Sorry guys but 430s are ho hum commonplace. I'd like to start a thread dedicated to the great and truly rare Ferraris that are or were in Canada. In keeping with the vague info rule I'll just list the model. To qualify shall we say value to be $1 million or fewer than 50 built.

Standard F40 for me does it. The fact that Enzo himslef thought of this for the 40th ann. of his company i must say it was probably his best creation.

Many years ago at the Toronto Auto Show I saw a yellow/black Daytona spyder with Ontario plates on it. They put a value of $2 million on it then, wonder what it would bring now.

Also, there's no mention of the 250 GTO, but is there not a well-known owner in Montreal?

Thanks Mr V, that sort of reminds me of another Ferrari Daytona Spyder. This one sat in the showroom all summer at YSM. Bill got a Fly Yellow Spyder with a black interior from Detroit (1972). It came as a dealer trade since the US dealer could not unload it down there...

Mr.CH if you look at FORZA Number 65 (Nov 2005) You will see another very special Spider (S/N 16915) right on the front cover! ;) It's Canadian.

If you havent read the story you should. Its a very special story about an old Chevy bow-tie kinda guy and the love of his Ferrari Daytona Spider. Mr. Lance Hill talks about how 40years ago he never would have thought of owning a black stallion. But he did....and still does.

It's Black on red. Don't remember if it was originally that colour nor do I know if it was a "cut" coupe.

If you dont have the article, I can send it to you.

Hey thanks Mr V. nice writeup there about a Ferrari collector! I know that Daytona Spyder. It is a real (not cut) Canadian Spyder. IN another life it was the Silver with a Red interior car I mentioned earlier! The 27 years later the owner still 'likes' it black...

Yes it is a great story. The guy is just a car guy who is sitting on a treasure and doesnt care. He just enjoys it as it should be. The kind of guy that may not have bought it in today's Daytona market but bought it back then when it was just "cool" and priced the same as a Honda Accord! :D

I would add LS's 412P and the 2 FXX in the rare and expensive category.

Does LS's 512 bbLM make the list? Less than 50 built me thinks.

I didn't include his cars cause I wasn't sure if he kept them in Canada.
On another note, I didn't think Factory Daytona Spyders were over a million like they were in 89. 288 GTOs don't qualify for sure which is a good thing which means they're still within mortals reach. And I was leaving a hole in my list to see who would remember Georges Cal Spy and LHs Cal Spy plus his TDF which is long gone along with the SWB Speciale. Sad to see that most cars on my list are long gone out of the province.

I totally agree. I would imagine they have gone out of the country nevermind out-of-province.

Great thread idea by the way. Let's keep this thing going. Surly you have more stories!!!

If the BBLM is not on the list it should be! ;) L.S has/had many interesting cars. Including 250TR's (2 if im not mistaken), a 412P, a Dino (Not the 246, the OTHER one ;) ) 512 Spyder and 512M's, 333SP etc. etc. etc.

Canada has a wealth of older and very valuable Ferrari's hidden all over. Most owners are not in it for the glory, they just like their old cars and enjoy them. You would be surprized at the collections just in the Toronto area.

Great list here. Red TDF 0707 and Pale Green Bertone 250GT SWB 1739
$2 million would not buy the Black Daytona Spyder-that's for sure...

Wow I guess I'm out of the loop - Gentry sold a pair of Factory Daytona Spyders not that long ago for around $500000 - and they had the correct original paint (brown, orange) .

I think the point being made is this car is not about the money: I seem to recall ~$700k USD for an original spyder? Who knows what they're really trading hands, though, for a no stories car. $1m wouldn't surprise me.

Exactly. Such as the case with the guy with the black Spyder here in Ontario. He doesnt need the money and he just loves the car so much that maybe $2M won't buy it. Who knows...

    But he has a red 330 P4.

    2 FXX's? I know he has 1, but 2?

Brilliant! vaguely triggered some very old memories and remember a couple old TR's up at vintage races at Westwood, must be like '84 or so. Not sure if they were up from WA or local. Don't think either of them made it onto the race track that weekend. Pictures somewhere...

Also remember a JPS F1 car, supposedly the first model with the rear wing. Definitely got some pics of that somewhere.
