Any of you guys who own one (or more!) of the super Fcars currently residing and insuring your vehicles in Canada? I'm having a b*tch of a time insuring my TR for its relatively low appraised value here in Toronto. I've been pondering the idea of acquiring an F40 at some point (if I can find one), but I don't know if I could even get it insured here!

If anybody knows of a company that will insure extremely valuable cars in Canada, please PM me.

    Thanks.

My boxer is insured by Lant Insurance but its 25 years old which puts me in a very inexpensive bracket. Im paying $1000 a year full coverage 12 months at appraised value, $100 deductable, etc....

I know about Lant's Silver Wheel program. It's the "restricted use" policy, right? Where you can only drive for hobby-type activities. I may end up going with them for the TR.

However, what I really want to know is who in Canada would insure a VERY expensive Ferrari, like an F40 at CAD $500,000+ ?? I imagine that the only option would be a restricted-use policy, like Silver Wheels, but my impression of Lant is that they wouldn't touch something that valuable. If you know differently, please advise.

I know that there are a few F40s in Canada. Who insures them and what kind of policy?

    Thanks.

I am surprised that you cannot get satisfactory insurance merely by calling a well known and established broker. If you cannot get private coverage the government has a "facility" program in place.....

None of my clients have ever had issues getting a certain "high end" car covered........not even $400K Ferrari's. I have a client with 3 F-cars......and hundreds with long term exotic car histories.....and this never comes up.

    Shop around harder......good luck.

    I'm in Calgary.............so I don't know who you'd call in Ontario.....sorry.

A lot of my clients seem to use the broker TD Melloche Monex.....see if they are in TO.

fire_n_ice, send a PM over to f40carlo. He's got an F40, and he's in Ontario so he should be able to offer some guidance.

I use CHUBB as do many of my exotic loving friends. I pay around $4000 a year for an F430, M6 cab and a Cayenne S.

    Hope that helps

PM me if you want my agents info, he is a die hard race car driver as well.

    Cheers

restricted in that I need a primary source of transportation other than my boxer and I cant use it to go to work on the daily basis. Im insured otherwise even in other countries and kms is unlimited. Lant is cheaper than my regular insurance company and the deductible is much lower. Im happy but if the car was 24 years old I wouldnt be saving anything through them. They didnt hesitate to insure me. One other restriction is no track use but thats a no-brainer, no company insures a car on the track.
