Believe it or not: My stepdaughter drove the "Wienermobile" through all of Western Canada for nine months some years ago. She and her partner were selected out of hundreds of applicants for this "job", and she had a blast....it was her first job fresh out of university, all expenses were paid, she was staying in the best hotels etc.etc...And best of all: It helped her getting better and better jobs after that.
This is problem? Is that so, I must disagree, I dont think i need to work like slave labor like the other parts of the world where everyone is outsourcing jobs in the manufacturing industry. Walter you must have said that incorrectly. 40 yrs ago anyone could walk into Canada, every italian family/portuguese, greek family i know were not literate or skilled at all. Today we have people from all over the world coming that are somewhat educated but driving cabs and working behind a food counter...i think we are saying the same thing here. I tend to agree with this somewhat. They need to stop telling business people in school to squeeze...the middle class is almost gone imo. All i see is a divorce rate of 50%, with alot of broken down families. I see alot of good paying jobs being sent abroad, and I see an educaiton system thats not preparing our children for the future, unless we think that in order to maintain a decent life style is to work 60 work weeks, but get paid 45 from our employers and to let more immigrants in to do jobs that they are either over qualified or under qualified just because the grouwth we are seeing is fake. Either way, its not a good vision for the future.
+1 I couldn't agree more, this country has become such a melting pot, that everything is confused and broken beyond repair, and the government is doing nothing but cutting back, hoping it will fix the problem.
We are right sizing into our condo. To that end there are things I no longer need or have space for: Northern Prancer, Vol 11#4 (Winter 2000) to Vol 17#4 (Winter 2006) Prancing Horse Issues #137 (4th qtr 2000) to #161 (4th qtr 2006) except #158 Forza Issues 25 (Oct 2000) to 72 (Oct 2006) except #32 Giving away full sets only, e.g. all Forzas or all Northern Prancers. Prefer you pick up in North York area due to weight! Gerrit http://dino308gt4.com
We don't need more unskilled immmigration, otherwise wages for the poor will never rise. Like the Switzerland example, we can control the supply of low skilled workers and not have to keep people on welfare rather than work at tim hortons or wendy's. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Big Red FTW.
Time to move! - But where? It seems that the whole world has become a melting pot... I'm an immigrant (and I proudly say so, as I am also the father of 2 "native" Canadians who are quite successful and pay lots of taxes), and I went to work overseas in developed and developing countries for only two reasons: To see the world while making money (My company pays the taxes when I'm working overseas). It worked out quite well for me and I'm glad to call Canada my home for the next few years until my wife and I decide that we need a warmer climate year-round (that place is rented out until then...). Then there will be two fewer immigrants (holding Canadian passports, among others
Sad but true Walter. When I am across the pond it's ashame how much they wanna be like the west and I don't know why . It's sad.
Hah, that's a cool story Walter. Must have been a blast. Is it me or does that Weiner mobile not look like a Jag e-type on the bottom!? LOL But please be carefull......you are getting Starboy444 confused. He's now excited because he too would like to "ride" the weinermobile across Canada!
