Thanks Rick We would love to have one last 'Ferrari/whatever interesting car' fling at the house, probably between mid May and mid June. More on that later....... We loved having the space and relative calm of a no traffic street to have these events. Neighbours specifically mentioned they will miss those events (FCA Rally in 2002, Fchat event a while ago) along with random F Car visits from friends. Gerrit
Sounds like fun! Vasco, I would only do that if you came along with me... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congrats Geritt! Loved the house too but downsizing is probably for the best. I need to see you about the speedo chip for the GT4. I need to get my odometer working!
Hi Jay The living and dining room floor you installed will live on in several commercials (including one for Tele2 in Europe) and in the Final 24:John Belushi documentary Gerrit
On the way back from the ski club, I noticed that I begin to dread reaching the suburbs--whatever they call that--on The Gore Road. Generally, the drive from Collingwood is an easy and peaceful drive. Every time I drive through that sh!thole of a suburb, I see the worst part of this "population growth" of which we speak. That is, without missing a beat, the locals ignore traffic signals/signs, race each other, cut each other off, throw garbage from their vehicles and come inches from running over some dude riding a bicycle. No doubt all the while talking on their cell phones. I don't know how to describe it, but it's like these people have no personal standards. Or, if they do, I doubt I can reach that low even comprehend them. Now, I enjoy getting home and back into the groove in the city, but going through that 'burb is such a total contrast to my daily experience and it gives me cause for concern for the future of this country.
I don't know which suburb you are referring to (nor do I know any of them in the GTA besides Thornhill and Mississauga, where my ex-brother-in-law and one of my my sons live, respectively, but I guess that each suburb has its own "flavor" of people (I don't just mean ethnicity, but also in terms of education/intellect/culture/affluence). So I guess the trick is to chose the right living environment for yourself and make a big loop around those other areas...unless, of course, you "feel at home" there... But this is nothing new: There never was a city without a (proverbial but mostly real) "east" to "west" division, not 5 years ago and not 50 years ago...and it is not solely due to immigration, but also because of the large social differences between the "classes" (rich/poor, educated/uneducated),,,
anyone else see this? that the catalytic converter is the new "hot" item to steal from car shops and cars... "What's the big attraction? It's what inside that counts. Catalytic converters contain expensive precious metals like platinum - which is worth up to $1,200 an ounce; palladium, which can fetch $320 an ounce and rhodium, the biggest prize of all. It goes for up to $6,000 an ounce on the market. " heres teh whole thing... http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_8913.aspx
Yes I heard that. A fellow dealer-friend of mine had an exhaust stolen right off a van in front of his office. Heh, I remember back in the day it was mini-van air bags! Man, these low-lifes think of everything.
Just caught the tail end of the news and they said something about a "gas guzzler tax" in this new budget as well as a Hybrid tax credit. Seeing as there aren't too many hybrid Ferraris, the other side of this equation caught my ear. I'm sure it's not going to impact new F-car sales, but does any one know any more details about this, i.e. is it based on the weight of the vehicle, or it's EPA fuel consumption ratings, or?, whether it applies to new cars, or used ones?
I believe it is for new cars only. The news last night said up to $4000 tax on new autos that don't meet new standards and a tax credit of up to $2000 for new cars that exceed them. Pick-Up and work trucks are exempt.
Something along the lines of any vehicle which consumes 13 litres or more of fuel per 100 km driven will be taxed up to $4000.
I succumbed once again to an f-chat subscription, so in commemoration of said subscription, here is a montage of the last few months in b-mak land. No photos of women to protect the guilty. Dood, I have nooooooooooooo comment...ok, well, one comment...women, yes, but no hookers. That was a great hotel room...
Where the hell were you today!? There was a VW/Audi sale at the auction. GTI's & Jetta's by the truckloads bro. I am gona sell you a car one of these days shooter! Oh and tell Ron Fellows I say hi...and tell him to drive a real car!
Where was I? Where do you think? Making money, brother. I know you're going to sell me a car. Now that the family car is settled, I'm moving on to the purchase of my new toy, two seats with the engine in the right place. Will ring you when I'm back from vacation to discuss. Edit: Um, yeah, V-man, I'll pass that right along to Ron, sure, no problem...
Good question. It sounds like a flat $4000. Smaller SUV's were also listed (can't remember which ones, but not like these Hummers, or 'Slades, more like Jeep Grand Liberty, and others of that size) that would only be taxed $2000. I wouldn't be surprised if it carries over to used gas guzzlers as well. Hey, for a $320,000 car, $4000 is nothing! Well, maybe owners will have to sacrifice a set of fender shields to cover it... What ticked me off is that only Hybrids would be the beneficiaries of some kind-of break. Us Smart owners get the shaft and unjustly so, as these are currently the most fuel efficient cars on the road.
