Sorry, but I need to rant here.....

As many of you know, the American Auto industry is in terrible shape?

Why? Because of high costs associated with materials, and mainly benefits and salaries paid to unionized workers.

Also, North America has suffered from extremely LOW productivity.

Just take a look at one of our "precision assembly technicians".

How can we compete against the powerhouse Japanese and Chinese who have perfected labour practices and good productivity with our workforce?

Though these are some valid points, that is not the reason that the big 3 suck the bag.

They cant sell cars because they build products that do not last, going down the production line is only 1/3 of the story.

I have personal friends in the industry that are decision makers, the main difference can be sumed up like this.

When GM has a part they wish to produce the first question they ask is how and who can do it the cheapest.

Toyota and Honda have the approach that this is the product we need, make me the best possible piece, and guarentee me that it doesnt break.

Two very different schools of thoughts, and you can see it in the products, im still not sure why GM and Ford always found it necessary to change engines and trannies constantly in new models. If GM would have kept the tranny and 305/350 engine they produced from the 70s the same and constantly improved it to this day they would still be ontop. That Northstar engine in the Caddys were JUNK...i had 2 of them back to back and they birned oil and had a problem with waterpumps always leaking.

As far as im concerned, they deserve what they are getting.

I agree with those points...however the union wages and benefits are sucking the $$ out of the companies...and with bozos and alcoholic losers working doesn't help the production line either!

I agree...1/3 union wages and benefits

    1/3 sh!tty quality products

    1/3 sh!tty design and functionality

And you 100% worth of crap....If they would learn the lesson.

Nevermind...my friend got duped $15,000 on a H-D fatboy he bought on e-bay. Luckily he was repaid in full 5 months later.

Vasco...I'm an E-bay whore myself! You can't fool me with any "shady" deals, I've seen and heard enough in my time.

My father has bought a few Ducati's on Ebay from the States....no problems so far with delivery or customs.

Well, I saw a moron driving a SA red/tan in the rain at Queensway/Kipling Area.

I dont see cars like this in the sun, but then at 2:30 after my meeting a see another moron in an Sliver SLR same area driving in the rain.

Too much money and not enough brains to be driving those in this weather.

You really have some weird ideas about what people should do with their cars. They are transportation after all and meant to be driven .Just because someone drives an exotic in the rain does not make them a moron.
The moron is the dude that that owns an exotic and is afraid to drive it because he might accumulate some mileage on his car and it could potentially hurt the resale value

Well I had lots of fun with my car in the rain today now that I have the F1 GS-D3's on there. These tires kick ass in the rain! It felt rock solid even with a pretty decent downpour on my way home...

I had some fun to but lost it quite often. My tread is going down FAST so me thinks I should take it easy and not do 120 or so on the on ramps.
