The homes in Vancouver and Whistler make the homes in Toronto look like backyard sheds...

Especially in Whistler....a nice expensive cottage in Muskoka, ON is pretty much a 'beginner' cottage in Whistler.

1/4 acre lot in Whistler is 1$ mil, a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom with 2 car garage home on a nice street starts at 2.5$ million.

There is one street near the mountain where every house begins at $10 million, and people don't even live in them, they are only 'cottages'. (I'll post some pics soon...)

A 900 sqft bachelor/studio condo inside the ski village starts at $750,000.

    Nice...:D

Don't even get me started about this. Toronto is making the biggest mistake not going through with any of the waterfront plans. You give the opportunity to any other city and they would definetly take advantage. The stupid politics involved drive me nuts. So much potential lost...

holly cowww, didn't know the prices were that expensive in whistler.
The houses in west vancouver are also hugee and extremely expensive, west vancouver has the most expensive realstate in Canada. In my trip in Vancouver i was diving around west vancouver and my jaw was on the ground the whole time looking at those mansions lol
I guess the scenery has its price thats why realstate is soo expensive in van.

The difference is that Vancouver has many international residents and investors,so the housing and condo market is always great. (and expensive!)

Whereas Toronto has very few international buyers, and less scenery...:(

Yup, i went to see a home for sale their a few weeks ago, was listed for 3.5M nice view all around, great property....the international visit is from all over the owrld because Vancouver has the perfect destination for the rest of the globe coming around, like Australia, Hong Kong...etc...i couldnt believe the people from Austrialia that are in Whistler....

Looks like you just missed the skiing then, i couldnt believe it , it was by far the best skiing i have done , and we did do the helicopter skiing, the powder was amazing, and i got away without any bruises....the next day we did zipping...did you do any ? i did it once, i didnt have the courage to do it after that again....lol.

No, I wanted to go skiing, but the runs were pretty much dry. We went to the peak (very scary chair lift ride...!!) There was some snow but it was very slushy, and the temp was around 8 C, everyone was wearing t-shirts, so the snow wasn't good enough.

Did lots of hiking, mountain biking and sight-seeing. Saw alot of waterfalls and canyons. I almost went bungee jumping but chickened out....:(

Whistler is definitely an 'international' town....yup, lots of Aussie's and Brits working in the village. It was packed for long weekend, I can't imagine how busy it is in the winter !

    Dear brother from the west,

As always, I totally agree and respect what you say. But I must say that it's a tough call.

"On its ninth day of deliberations, the jury at Conrad Black's criminal trial sent a note to the judge this afternoon indicating it is still unable to reach a verdict. The judge suggested they try harder."

As I predicted....I say he walks scott free. ;)

Very true Joe. As tacky as he was he was a good guy and helped many people especially immigrants get started in Toronto.

Hey Vasco! that's classic "try harder"! What was that Henry Fonda movie with the jury in the courtroom? got to be a few ugly words by day nine.

I'd think a deadlock favours Mr Black. but still wouldn't want his date card for the next few years.

I think he's played the line with the rules so long he doesn't know where they could be, let alone should be.

But, hey - Tour de France time! they'll be in the mountains next week :)

just got back from 3 days camping with my youngest's school - it's a little warm out there at 39C someone was saying? hotter inland where we were. my rain-bleached skin isn't used to such abuse!

A question for you car dealers in Ontario: (Which has been asked a million times already...)

Why aren't dealerships open on Sundays?

After recently helping my friend buy a new car, we could never get a straight answer from anyone. I would assume dealerships would X2 their sales if people could browse/shop for cars on weekends?? Customers could also get oil changes and service done at their OEM dealership on Sundays too instead of wasting time during the work week.

Come on Vasco...Give me a real answer.

Are you telling me that you sell more cars on Monday than on Sunday?? Thats BS. The big dealerships have 100 employees, so it should be able to stay open 7 days a week.

Why not just stay home on Mondays then?

That is a real answer. Who the hell would want to work on a Sunday? How can you plan weekend trips or holidays. How about us Catholics? :) You may do a couple of sales but most of the time you will be dealing with tire kickers....ESPECIALLY on a Sunday when everyone else has nothing to do. Give me a break!

Why don't you go to Vaughan Mills!? :D

I understand, but....why don't BIG dealerships open 7 days a week?? With 100 staff, they can work shifts (Sunday's off?) They would bring in alot more customers and "tire kickers", possibly landing more deals?

LOL.....they have a great Ferrari Kiosk in there...and another store that sells lots of F1 and Ferrari collectors stuff!

    ;)

Dude....those big dealers may have 100 emplyee's but only about 10-20 poor souls work the floor.
