Agree 100%. Looking at time held and the low mileages on the greater majority of examples for sale indicts anxiety surpassed actual enjoyment spent behind the wheel. Very sad state of affairs especially when you look at the odos and the prices now having to be taken. This is precisely why these cars should be driven without second thought to the mileage being accrued.

Agree. The low miles nonsense is a carry over from older Ferrari’s where you had to do an Engine out service every 10-15k miles so people kept the miles low. The newer generation cars are meant to be driven. Drive the heck out of them.

Exactly. These cars are supposed to be actually driven.

I look forward to the day when 80% of 2 y/o ferraris all have at least 20k on the odo instead of the ridiculous sub 5k you generally see. The anxiety that currently exists must be truly awful to live with. Todays ferrari ownerhip experiences predominantly appear to be all about show and tell, and how much is going to be lost rather than actual use.

Sadly, it’s not anxiety that limits my miles, it’s time....

There are some places it’s just not practical to drive your Ferrari — even if you don’t insist on parking it far away from everyone else — and in other cases, your “daily driver” is just more comfortable. Lately I’ve been driving my 488 3-4x a week but still won’t put more than 2,000 miles on it a year. When I go grab a sandwich at Subway I’m going to take the Tesla every time.

With modern Ferraris I don’t think that many owners are scared to drive them, it’s just many of us are in positions where we don’t have long drives for commutes and you only rack up so many miles on canyon runs.

I guess this is the difference- most modern Ferrari owners actually work for a living so don’t have as much time to enjoy them.

It's coming Shack don't worry bro. Just work on dates for the next run south please. And if I'm not accruing enough miles on Pista (at the moment - even tho I'm still doing my best to use it), I can assure it's for legit reasons (as in have been full-filling commitments driving the others on pre organised drives) and, most certainly nothing to do with living in any fear of Ferrari depreciation anxiety. You can take that to the bank!

I think we all work to get there - owning that blessed Ferrari - but it's what we do when we actually get there that counts! You see using the excuse there is no time to drive (it) because we are too busy working defeats the very purpose of getting there and owning one.

I met a guy this weekend with a TDF who has only put 189 miles on it. He drives it on a trailer to car events and stares at it. What a complete waste. I recommended to him to buy a poster and sell me his car. :)

how do u figure - it wld cost him 300K to 400K to drive 4k miles at an average of 23 MPH if he kept it under 90 mph. then you have to worry about parking, pot holes, etc...maybe hes the smart one?

How do I figure what? That it's a waste? It is a car built to be driven not for a museum. I have another friend with a $30M vintage Ferrari that he drives to these same events. He figures he will reset not driving it when he is too old to do so.

this whole conversation about driving/ using vs keeping/ collecting is funny.

Why would you assume that how you gain pleasure using/ driving your car is 'better' vs the guy who keeps/ collects? I have done both. If I had a TDF I would enjoy looking at it as much if not more than using it. Driving it on public roads would be annoying, to say the least. Appreciating it as a thing of beauty doesn't necessitate driving it. There are many other cars you can drive and enjoy without the same level of annoyance.

Our hobby has created its own form of virtual signaling. The self-proclaimed 'drivers' vs collectors.

cldnt agree more. its one thing to have a view on something and it's another thing to look down at it in a derogatory or demeaning way, which is how most of the "not driving a car is like saving your gf for the next guy" crowd comes off...

Same but heck I would have to drive it. I am not saying it would be my DD but I would find every opportunity to enjoy it.

That is irrelevant. TDF is not worth much more than $700-800K these days. 1000 miles vs. 200 won't matter a whole lot.

Your numbers are jacked but regardless you have to pay to play. To each his own but I am driving my cars as often as I can.

About 20 cars (McLarens, Porsches, Lambo, Merc's, BMW, others) - only 4 or 5 Ferraris. Currently just a Pista. How about you? Curerntly about to pick up either an F12 or 812 TBD. Also helping a friend with a TDF. Tell me how much I dont know, I can't wait to hear.
