maybe nobody mentioned it because: "Boardwalk will retain its Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini franchises"

Without the volume stores to balance economies of scale for Ferrari, Lambo, etc., the sale of the Audi, VW, and Porsche stores will definitely impact those not in the sale to AutoNation. AutoNation doesn't 'do' high-end stores, but if Boardwalk is selling the others, makes one wonder about the future of the remaining stores. Not to mention the number of members here with Porsches, Audis, and VW's. I'd say it's still relevant in the Texas section.

I wasn't suggesting that it was completely irrelevant...not at all. Just throwing out a potential explanation as to why people haven't really commented on the transaction. I agree with your line of thinking.

    From the article:

“It was important for me to secure the future of these automotive dealerships (emphasis added by me) — Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen — and I am also excited for our associates, who have been a key part of our success in building a premier automotive retail business in the Dallas market,” said Ginsburg, an entrepreneur who has built successful radio and digital-media businesses as well.

Does this not imply that the dealerships were somehow insecure under the previous ownership or would soon be insecure? Curious.
