After Pilot Sports on my old Supra TT and M5s, I opted for 050's on my Spider.

After 10k km the fronts' edges are balding and one rear has a slow leak so I'm changing them in.

I don't race or even, honestly, drive that aggressively, and longer life would be nice. (I'd like steering feel, don't care about noise, don't need anything more "comfy" than the 050's have been, rain safety is an interest but for instance I'd far rather have smooth breakaway than a fast lap time.) The SuperSports and S-04's sounded like my kind of tire.

Turns out, in Japan, S-04s aren't even on the market (WTF, its a Japanese company?!!) and the Michelin Pilot Super Sport 285/35 isn't sold here.

    Closest I can get is a 295/30.

Any experience plus or minus? Should I just admit defeat and go with one of the OEM combos (all of which are available)? Has anyone ever imported tires to Japan?

Bridgestone Potenza S001, best tire I have ever had on my F430, last more than 14000km on rear axle, perfect grip on wet and best on dry

    2008 Spider, by the way.

In Japan I can get the Michelin Pilot Super Sport in 295/30 or 295/35 but not 285/35.

If I have my math right, stock diameter is:

    285/35: 19 * 25.4 + 285 * .35 * 2 = 682.1mm
    295/30: 19 * 25.4 + 295 + .30 * 2 = 659.6mm = 3.3% smaller
    295/35: 19 * 25.4 + 285 * .35 * 2 = 689.1mm = 1.01% bigger

Another way of looking at it is that after wearing 3.5mm of tread off, the 295 is stock diameter...

ALSO.... the most recent advice I see on Ferrarichat for non-tracked F430's is Michelin Pilot Super Sport but does anyone experience with something else (esp, something new?) that they like better?

Finally... is it surprise that my factory Bridgestones are going bald at the front outside edges after 10k? The car is 4.5 years old so tires at least that, and a rear has a medium puncture, so I'm resigned to replacing them all anyway, but mostly just curious. I've checked pressure literally every fillup.
