360 Capristo 1,2 or 3 - How to tell the difference!?

    Had a recent experience where I had purchased a Capristo 'Sound 3' for my Ferrari 360 Spider. To my surprise it was labelled as a 'Sound 1' on the ID plate. This led me on quite a search to find out how you can physically tell the difference.
    This ended up with my contacting Capristo, Germany, as even the Australian office was not sure.

    Ended up talking to a Marco Pometti ([email protected]) from Capristo, Germany who confirmed the following.

    Sound 1 - Plugs at either side of the muffler not perforated (sieved). Sound is 10 dBA louder than OEM

    Sound 2 - Plugs at either side of the muffler not perforated (sieved). Sound is 18 dBA louder than OEM

    Sound 3 - Plugs at either side of the muffler are perforated like a sieve. Sound is described as F1 like

    Apparently, there are no outside physical differences between a Sound 1 and a Sound 2 and you can only tell by the sound they make on the car.

    Interesting. I had a level 3, just wicked loud, car made more power above 6k and ref’s freer, but it was just too loud and droned at 4k. Made it too hard to live with, went back to fabsoeed.

    quality of capristo is materially better than the fabsoeed.

    my 04 spider at level 3 was epic...people just swooned at it...I loved it too......cheers!

    Here’s mine with Challenge catless headers, test pipes, and a Capristo 3. The tune has a bit too much in the way of pops and burbles in this one, but other than that it’s a pretty good representation of what a full cat deleted Capristo 3 sounds like. Very raspy due to the lack of cats at low revs, but absolute madness up top.
