First modification I have made to my car so far. Capristo Exhaust just showed up this morning. I went with the twin sound, cat deletes and valve control with remote. I am counting the minutes until the car gets this beauty installed. Right now its on the dyno getting the before numbers. I will dyno it again tomorrow after with some results.... Whoa! Not that I keep up on exhaust technology but I've never heard of such a thing. Very cool. edit: Never heard of the fob thingy, that is.
Congrats. I'm thinking of changing my Tubi to the Cap as well, but can't decided if I want the twin sound or Level 3 version. Does anyone know if the twin sound allows the valves to open such that it can be as loud as the Level 3 unit? What is that fob thing?
Jim, if that's true then that will be the unit I'll switch to. Rob, mind my asking how much this unit cost? (PM me if you prefer). Thanks.
Guys thanks for the feedback so far. Here are pictures of the tips. We sell alot of exhausts from almost every company and I have to say that I am always impressed with Capristo product. Also the reason I chose it for my 360. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The exhaust with the remote and keyfob is $5495 retail. If you would like to discuss please give me a call. We have one instock can ship today. I love the fact of changing the exhaust from quiet to loud with the push of a button. Rob
Don't you dare for not posting a video clip from that bad boy! Im happy for you man! Looking foward for that sound clip! Hey Rob, how is stoptech is doing about our bad ass brakes?
I like this "Cap" exhaust very much and I want to install it in my own car (swap for Tubi, that I have now). Especially interesting is the remote control of those exhaust bypass valves to increase the sound level and some extra power. Maybe in the autumn...!
Got the exhaust on the car today, I have to say this is the best exhaust I have ever put on a car....I really was on the fence whether to go kreissieg or capristo, and I'm happy I chose Capristo, the quality is amazing and the tone is incredible. It is very loud with the exhaust valves open, it just screams!!!!! Its not bad with them closed took it on the freeway and was about the same as the factory tubi I had on stock. I will get some sound clips up soon and video, this car now sounds the way it should The remote option is such a nice feature, you can control the loudness of the exhaust at anytime. Just reving the engine, would send chills down any ferrari owners spine..... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Rob congrats on the new exhaust. I just brought my first Ferrari up from Florida and love the car. It has a Novitech exhaust on it presently, but its not loud enough. I'm going to change the exhaust system, but still unsure on whether to put the level 3 or the twin. I'm wondering if the level 3 would be to loud for everyday around town driving. Pulling into the golf club may pose a challenge as well, but with the twin sound-just push the button and your in stealth mode. (now thats cool) interested in seeing the vids and I will probably call to dicuss pricing as well as cats virses test pipes to go with it. Cheers Kink
Honestly for the price difference, $500 to go twin sound and $500 for the remote I would do it. It is such a cool feature to have. The level 3 is pretty aggressive, I will get a sound clip up. The valves are also nice to have because at startup they are closed, and they open after the car gets warm.
Some more pictures of the exhaust installed, will have video from the dyno tomorrow. Another nice thing it was 22lbs lighter than the stock exhaust.. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It did look very nice and the cat Delete feature looked great. Did you pick up any Hp with the setup?
I bought a kit to polish the inside of the exhaust tips on my Capristo. They now shine like a mirror and look really cool.
Rob, look forward to the dyno results and vids price really isn't the issue, its sound quality at low and high rpm's that I am looking for. So are the valves controlled by the ECU on startup or are they controlled by exhaust temperature when cold? Also since I have the novitech exhaust with no valves and the tubes have been removed where do the valves hookup for the ECU to control?
nice, rob. good to see you doing the mods I wanted to do when I had it. I'm back in the country. If you want me to send out the windshield wipers, I can do it this week I think...
I have recently grafted a pair of valve on my Capristo(first generation), it became around 25% quieter when closed. Is that the same with the Capristo twin sound system? I have never opened up a Capristo to study the path, but imho, I prefer the 2 path system on the CS, 430, Kreissieg. When the valves close, everything re-route thru the muffler; and when the valves open, it go straight out bypassing the muffler. So it can be very quiet when idling and loud as hell when you push it. I think the Capristo is only a one path system, it simply block off half of the pipes to reduce the flow. I would guess it can not be as effective as the 2 paths system.
I may be mistaken but I don't recall that being the case with the one I had. The valves were entirely controlled by the remote. With one setting they were always closed whether the car was warm or not and then in the other setting, they were open. I also had one of the valves fail and cause a horrible rattle that was not fun to track down and not cheap to replace.
Underpsi: I'm sure this happened a few years ago but you should of brought the car to us. Capristo actually should of warrantied the valves. We have sold these for a couple years and there customer service is actually pretty amazing. For one customer they actually flew out and installed it at his house because he didn't trust anyone local. Matt: Thanks would be appreciated I will get your plate in the mail also. djastral69: yes I did the exhaust with the capristo test pipes. I didn't flash the ecu yet so i'm using O2 sims/O2 defoulers for the time being. No cel though. I love it so far, sounds like a beast now. I will get video up this afternoon, car isn't here right now.
When it is in quiet mode, is it below 92db. I've been looking for a system that allows (1) the sound of a Ferrari, but (2) can be quiet enough to now blow the db limit at Laguna Seca.
