I was speaking with someone today and they mentioned that Ferrari has a deal with Capristo for their exhaust modifications where at if installed they do NOT void your warranty.

Has anyone else heard or can confirm this?

I am thinking about going the FabSpeed route but this would make me think twice before doing so.

    Thanks

By coincidence I have talked to Tony Capristo himself just this week (his company is just 30 mins drive away from my home town) as I am interested in changing the exhaust/muffler combo, too.

When mentioning the question of loss of gurantee Tony said to me, that it's MY risk and I should talk to my dealer if they'd be willing to put back the original exhaust once a guarantee-covered problem with the car arises, so that the F-representative checking the case with the car would not come to know of it...

Conclusion: As long as there is no sort of special deal pending in Your country, that person was wrong.

    Cheers,
    Ulli

I was going to have the remote valve option and I was told it could void my warranty. I ditched it. Have only driven my car in race and my god it's loud enough IMO

Respectfully. I do not have anything from Ferrari that gaurantees me they will not void the warranty, and have never seen such a document.

I can tell you from personal experience, this is not so clear cut.

Personally, I would hesitate to unequivocally advise anyone without being absolutely certain.

    Again, no disrespect intended. Best

Dealers should not avoid warranty just because you install an aftermarket exhaust system in your car. I would be piss if they void my warranty unless the aftermarket exhaust cause damage to the car or the surrounding parts.

My conversations with the dealer's service manager reveal them to be pretty cagey. On the one hand he generated concern with a horror story of how Ferrari refused to pay for an exhaust valve problem, claiming that the aftermarket exhaust "modified the back pressure and created the problem in the engine." On the other hand he said that Ferrari recognized that a lot of guys do add aftermarket exhausts and that they have to be practical. One thing that came across loud and clear is that cat mods and ECU remapping are definite no-no's.

My attitude is conservative. A warranty on a 300K car with a state-of-the-art high performance powertrain has to be a concern. I will not jeopardize it for a marginally better exhaust sound. I'll run in race mode when desired.

It is a personal decision but it is good to know the ground rules on the risk.

I think it's easy for Ferrari to "just say no" and not worry about an argument later if the car has any problem with the engine or emissions.

If I were their legal counsel, that's what I would say.

After all, what do they have to lose in saying "no"?

Most states have laws which can protect consumers against such issues; however, due to the complexities involved here, it is often not so clear cut. If there is a possibility that your modification of my product caused my product to fail, why would I honor a warranty claim? Seems to me in this scenario that the dealer would be the leverage point and some dealers are more accommodating than others with regard to mods. If you have such a dealer and have a good relationship with that dealer, you are much less likely to have an issue.

The risk, however, is still great. It's not just the product you have to worry about, but the folks who are installing said product as well. If it were my product and it failed after you have modified it, I would certainly be suspect, and rightfully so.

Just like my experience with insurance companies. Give a reason to say "No" and you will get "No." Play by the rules if you want to be sure.

Maybe I am the only one, but I totally see ferrari's point. They desgin the car, put their exhaust system on the car and would like it to stay that way. They should bring out their own 'sports' exahust range or whatever.
But for them to open the floodgates and say yep they will warranty when aftermarket parts are fitted they have no control over, then why should they open themselves upto that?..how much time does it take them to establish issues with aftermarket parts that may or may not cause an issue, lot easier just to say no warranty in such cases, perfectly understanable. Steve Jobbs kept apple nice & tight by stopping 3rd parties getting at his stuff, worked for apple ok!!

+1 and suspect few would argue. It is the "child" in us that wants to find a way around it so we can "tinker" Best
