    hi guys,

i only got my Cali a few weeks ago but the sound was simply not loud and aggressive enough. so i got the capristo system with high flow cats.

the guys in the workshop arent finished yet, the mufflers are still stock but the cats are in already. i started her up earlier and must say: insane. i just reved to about 2500 and its unbelievably loud with open valves - when they're closed its ok but still way louder than stock. lets see what it sounds tomorrow with the capristo mufflers.

i was a little afraid of CEL so i got the o2 spacers with mini CAT and the 90° angle adapter. no CEL when i started her up earlier.

    some pics for you

so i picked her up from the workshop today. sound with open valve above 3500rpm is wonderfull. thats how she should sound. below 3000rpm (open and closed valve) it has a terrible drone. ill take her back tomorrow, they will have to do something about that. maybe a resonated midpipe.

Oh boy. I have the exact setup being installed - CAT, X-Pipe, Exhaust, and Remotes...I hope it's not too annoying during cruising. You have me a bit worried. :(

during cruise (above ~70kph) its no problem. i live in a "big" city and my daily driving is nearly only stop&go. thats why its problematic.

my dealer contacted capristo and they said they'll finde a solution.

    Here's one possible scenario.

I believe newly-installed aftermarket exhaust systems can sound different (better) after they've been run-in with a few hundred miles of driving. Otherwise they can exhibit an annoying loud hollow sound in the beginning. Apparently new exhaust plumbing acquire a coating of "soot" during an appropriate run-in period and the sound then improves.

capristo say its a mounting error - something is causing vibration. since it got worse (i drove about ~100km since the install) i kind of believe them. the drone inside between idle and 2200rpm is unbearable. ill take her to the workshop on monday and they'll have to check all the mounting points again.

the sound under WOT is great though, as is the sound while starting the engine. i started her up in town (engine was warm) and with high buildings it sounds like in the pit of a circuit.

When I ordered my Cali T in May I asked my dealer about removing the hose to better the sound, as I had read about on FChat. He said Ferrari no longer permits doing that but he also warned me that doing so or adding a system produces a drone sound which is unbearable at idle.

    hi erik,
do you have it installed already? whats your experience?
i drove her this weekend - i cant stand the drone. if they cant get it fixed im going back to stock next week.
also i think for city its too loud with open valves. if i want to catch a green light it sounds like a fighter jet is starting... i cant imagine that the cops will take this for granted.
    cheers

No. They are waiting on the CAT to be delivered - I think just the exhaust came in. I believe Monday or Tuesday - I'll let you know as soon as it arrives.

Did you get the remote open/close?
