Hey Erik, can you confirm whether the sound 3 refers to the sound on primary or bypass? I do remember reading that the sound level referred to the primary (with 1 being stock level, 2 being slightly louder than stock and 3 being loud), but just want to confirm so nobody gets the wrong info. I know my stage 2 was almost as loud as my completely open challenge exhaust on bypass, so not sure it could get any louder than that without the primaries also being open.
Ill try my best to explain this without making anyone bleed at the ears. haha The sound I and II refer to valve closed, sound I is basically stock sound, sound II is a little louder. Sound III refers to when the valves are open this is the F1 scream we talk about. So the choices are as follows sound 2 which is technically (sound 2 & 3) 2 when valves are closed and 3 when open OR sound 3 which is (sound 1 & 3) 1 when valves are closed and 3 when open at the end of the day the sound 2 exhaust is louder than the sound 3 exhaust when the valves are closed and the same when they are open. We HIGHLY recommend getting the sound 3 (1&3) because when the valve is closed compared to open there is a drastic difference and it sound amazing. this is our most popular system for the F355. Thank You Erik
Ah, so the sound 2 is actually louder than the 3 (on primary)? That makes sense as my sound 2 was a little louder than stock on primary, and tbh the difference was still very drastic when the bypass opened without being too loud on primary. I've heard the 3 at idle and was surprised at how quiet it was at idle as I thought my sound 2 was louder (going by memory) but figured it may have had something to do with the 5.2 vs. 2.7 idle and the lack of primary cats on my car.
Mind blown... Thanks for explaining this accurately, most of us had a very over-simplified understanding of the 1, 2, and 3. Love my level 3!!
+1 This is the first time I have heard it explained this way...and now it makes sense as I have a Stage 3 and it seems extremely tolerable around town with the valve closed. I totally had it backwards. Learned something today!
If i wouldve known the Sound 2 is louder than the sound 3 under normal driving, i wouldve opted for the cap 2!!!!! Looks like I might have a cap 3 for sale soon. Too quiet for my taste when bypass closed.
Ok. I just called Erik. Looks like 2 or 3 is not in stock and will be shipped directly from Germany. Make me a good offer and its yours .
Erik is there two sounds that we could order if we get the twin valve or is only available in 1-3 or also the 2-3. Also what is the big advantage of the twin valve over the single valve.
Thanks Erik, I guess that explains why some members here have "Sound 1/3" engraved on theirs. Where does it leave those engraved with "Sound 1" though? You seem to indicate that there is no Sound 1 model. Could that be an older version that is no longer offered?
I think most of us thought that the 1, 2, and 3 all sounded the same under full throttle but were quietest to loudest in that order at idle. Thanks again Erik!
The Twin Sound exhaust was ONLY designed to get maximum horsepower, in doing so the sound is basically 2 four cylinder engines, NOT the Ferrari 8 cylinder scream that the F355 is known for. The Twin Sound is a 2 valved exhaust that seperates the 2 cylinder banks with maximized flow for maximum horsepower. FOR RACING APPLICATIONS ONLY!! We have several exhausts for other model cars that are also labeled "twin sound" and are not to be confused with the F355 twin sound which is for RACING ONLY. If you look on our site or on Germany's site we no longer offer this exhaust. If someone absolutely wanted it for a racing application i am sure that we could take care of them. Im very sorry, i know this is confusing here are the available Capristo products for the Ferrari 355 Ferrari 355 thanks Erik Krammer
Again sorry for the confusion. There are only TWO exhausts its either the "Sound 2" (2 & 3) or "Sound 3" (1 & 3) Thanks Erik
Hi Erik! Could you expand a bit more this information: "We do not recommend using the heat shields for this exhaust. they are just not needed."
We have our Capristo heat blankets for our sport cats, test pipes, and headers. I believe the previous question was about whether or not the heat blankets were needed on the exhaust muffler which it is not. thanks Erik
I went ahead and ordered the 2/3 from Nick Forza. Can't wait to install it. (Brenden, get ready to help)
Hopefully a review will follow. I know you will love it. The sound it produces isn't like a typical muffler system. As soon as you mash down on that pedal, youll know exactly what Im talking about.
