Hello, Typing this for a friend of mine who has a 96 f355. Currently has the OEM exhaust and a Capristo Stage 2 is on the way. The OEM bypass valves rattle and sounds nasty. Would it be possible to delete the bypass system when the Stage 2 Capristo arrives or does the Capristo come with new valves. We are planning to get Hyperflow catalytic as well.
Capristo makes an upgraded bypass valve (not included with the muffler) or you may be able to adjust the original so it doesn't rattle. You can delete the valve but I personally would not. (and you would need a work around for the post valve thermocouple, not sure what that is)
This is the Capristo valve , it defaults open so just don't attach the vacuum tube Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have a bypass valve which I refurbished and adjusted to better than factory specs you will get no codes and the valve will open at around 2500-3000 RPM as opposed to 3500-4000 RPM and guaranteed not to rattle. with stainless steel O-rings. IF you delete the valve, You will get CEL codes for sure. Send me a PM if you're interested. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Don't do it, your ecu will get the wrong feedback from your o2 sensors and screw up the mixture trim if you leave the bypass open all the time. The challenge cars had a bypass delete, but they spent most of their time running at wot where the o2 sensor feedback isn't used. I would never do that on a street car without moving the o2 sensors to before the y in the headers.
Wide Open Throttle. Bobzdar is speaking the truth, by reducing the amount of exhaust passing the 02 sensors you screw up the calculations by altering their data. How much is the subject of debate, but it will alter the data.
Thank you for the quick replies Gentlemen, I have just placed an order on the Capristo Bypass Valves. Will be running them with the Capristo Stage 2.
