Thought I'd share a photo of it on the car. Spent most of the day doing the install. While I was at it, I dropped ther rear fender liners for a clean-up.

Not sure how the car sounds from the outside, but the interior din went up considerably. There are a couple of 'vents' on the sides of the muffler can on the Capistro- any idea what purpose they serve? You can see them in the lower part of the photo...

    Sweet!
My stage 1 is louder than my old Tubi that I replaced at low rpms, and at high it will wake the dead (but they do get up and cheer). Enjoy!

Yep, low rpms is where the noise level is considerably higher....

Nice :) I see we have another bike nut here. You need to add a bay for the bicycles. I am starting to stick them all over the walls too, just got those hoist thingies to pull the old ones I don’t ride so much to the ceiling.

    Yep! Big road cyclist!

I've always maintained that cycling is the only acceptable exericise for car enthusiasts. After all, cycing is about speed, handling, braking and high technology....sound familiar? Hanging in the garage (and usually on the road) is a Kestrel Talon SL with full Dura Ace 7800 and Reynolds full carbon clincher rims. In the back is a 1st generation Trek Madone with full Dura Ace 7800 and Kysrium SL's. And tucked behind that is a Cannondale Slice TT bike with Dura Ace 7700.

355 with Cappy is awesome. My mate's got the stage 3 and it is loud, especially in the tunnel.

Bumping this old thread and answering the OP's question for the possible benefit of others, since I have been looking closely at Capristo for my own application. Those vents in the side of the Capristo muffler assembly are for pressure equalization and do not have any function as far as exhaust tone is concerned. The muffler design utilizes a double-skin construction, and as a result requires the ability to vent changing air pressures between the inner and outer skin.

^ interesting that the newer Capristo's are plugged and no longer vented.

WHY do all the exhaust companies mix the bypass exhaust with the header exhaust?

Can't we get a separate outlet for each?

Is it? Is was told that it mixes in the top can of the exhaust.

if it really is separate, that changes my interest level dramatically.

I have the stage 3 capristo, tubi headers and straight pipes. It's ridiculously loud in the best way imagineable.

I have Fabspeed headers, high-flow cats and a Tibu Tube-Only pipes. I need to tone it down a little bit and think the Capristo maybe the answer.

I looked inside of mine with some mirrors when I first got it. From what I could see it seems the top two outlets of the muffler are connected with a straight solid tube straight across the inside of the muffler. The bypass inlet intersects that tube.

Far as I could tell it completely separated the paths. Maybe it's perforated closer to the outer sides of the muffler where I couldn't see clearly but certainly doesn't just dump into the main housing like many others.

This is from the Capristo website. Jim is correct. Read paragraph four. I agree, I prefer them separate as well.

Mine is in the shop now undergoing an engine out as well as upgrading New headers and a Capristo sound 3. We will leave the high flows (in Calif) and I will have a used Tubi exhaust ready for the classifieds soon. Can't wait to fire her up and hit the tunnels.

I prefer the sound of a Tubi myself. The separate exhaust paths of Capristo seem better. The newer Tubi Evolution might be like the Capristo, but I am not totally sure on this.

I absolutely love the sound of a 355 with a Tubi exhaust. Don't know if any of the other options sound "better", but it's hard to imagine that it could get much better (I'm not one who would try to get "F1 sound" out of a 355 because they're two very different engines and the 355 engine sounds fantastic in its own right). I do like Capristo's claims about separating the bypass path though, which would be a bigger selling point to me than "F1 sound". :)

I'm running a Tubi and straight pipes on my GTS. Sounds awesome at high revs, but the idle noise in traffic and cruise drone is a bit much. Is there an exhaust setup out there that keeps idle and cruising a bit quieter while still maintaining that fantastic high rev shriek?

I'd suggest adding hi flow cats in place of the test pipes but sound is very subjective. My latest 95 B has the Capristo and test pipes and I think it sounds great at idle and town cruising but man, get above 4k RPM's and all hell brakes loose :)
