Hello, I'm not writing that much on the forum but I'm actually reading a lot and learning a lot as well from FC. I wanted to share my experience (not that much positive) with a Capristo silencer which I bought a year ago from Eurospares. The silencer -as you can read from the title- was a Capristo Twin Valves exhaust so called "racing" exhaust . I've got it well packaged and new from Eurospares and I've mounted it on my F355 2.7 Berlinetta. See the setup of it on the attached pictures. Despite the very impressive finishing of the object, this silencer presented a very pesky issue since the beginning of the installation: a terrible rattling noise sounding metallic and shaky around 4000 RPM. I've contacted Antonio Capristo who advised me to go to his factory in Germany to check together what could be wrong. I've visited Antonio to his place and stayed nearly a day in the factory. After few hours of investigation, Antonio decided to switch to another identical exhaust which he had in deposit. The shaky noise was much better but definitely worse at idle. I've asked also to switch to a standard exhaust (with single valve) - but Antonio explained me that despite the higher price of the racing exhaust, this was build on demand and therefore an exchange would have been impossible. Even for my basically new exhaust... Went back home with the terrible noise still present - thinking that it could have come from something else then the exhaust.... .... till a few days ago.... when I decided to sold the exhaust to another F355 2.7 owner... and the bloody rattling noise is still present on the other car !!!! In fact, by mounting the OEM exhaust or a Tubi, NO RATTLING anymore. So - clearly the shaky/rattling is coming from the exhaust itself. Things checked so far: - by-pass valves - right and left manifolds (shields removed and wrapped) - exhaust mounting springs - air canister - air pump - bumper shield - shield between engine and petrol tank - engine mounts/gearbox mount - exhaust bolts - test pipes bolts and/or adjustement - lambda connectors - throttle bodies Can I ask if anybody is mounting the same exhaust and experiencing the same issue ? At the moment I'm a bit "lost" because on one hand Capristo refused to switch from this racing exhaust to the standard one and on the other this exhaust cannot be sold because the same issue is presenting itself again on other cars... Thanks a lot for your advise... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
