Hello, I am contemplating the purchase of a F355 either Berlinetta or GTB and want something loud with a F1 tone at higher rpm. I have a Ferrari F512M with Tubi muffler and it sounds amazing at wide open throttle but very toned at idle. What is available for a F355 that has a loud idle and a very loud sound at wide open throttle. I have looked at Capristo and Tubi but all I could find are mufflers. What headers can I install, is it possible to have straight pipe without "CEL". Should I look into Kreisseig, has anyone dealt with them ?
Take a look at a Challenge exhaust (no muffler). Ricambi sells them for around $1200. I have a custom on mine, very similar to the challenge and it's loud as hell but sounds great.
The louder the better, Whats better 2.7 or 5.2 cars ? Cant find the challenge exahust link at the site
Dave, i'd love to see a video of this!.. A 10 minute warm up is a must thought before you rev it for me
See #8 Ferrari 355 Challenge (1999) Parts : Table 8 - EXHAUST SYSTEM - AIR INTAKE http://www.ricambiamerica.com/parts_catalogs.php?V=diag&I=3178 EDIT: I just noticed those have gone up about $1000.00
I have a 97' with standard Cats ,and a tubi exhaust. You're right, at idle its pretty tame, with a moderate rumble, 4-rev-line its nice and loud althought not so blistering that i can't hold a conversation. I can't tell you how many times i've blaired through this tunnel near my house at 8000 in 2nd gear, and exited the tunnel with an ear to ear grin. If want full boar,, i'd get high flow cats (help me on manufacturer), and a sound 3 Capristo. There is a very well known YouTube video with this exact setup I believe the car is yellow
I just saw stage 3 capristo on youtube, I like that howl. Yes on my F512M the symphony starts at 4k rpm onwards. I have never driven the car with the windows up or with the radio on. It means a lot when you are in a hot country.
A video would be greatly appreciated, so the Challenge is full straight pipe no cats, can I add aftermarket headers. Is it louder than Stage 3 capristo ?
No, I have CAT's, just no muffler. I've tried to video it but it really does not do it justice. Put it this way, I have to neighbors that hate my car ;-)
I want a tone and scream as well, I was stating that my Ferrari F512M had a nice scream at high rpm's but it wasn't loud at idle. I want something that is both.
Whatever floats your boat. Personally i don't like my car shouting. I have a Larini silencer, OEM manifolds and hi flow cats and the capristo bypass valve...glorious. Had a Tubi...boomed at 3000 revs on the motorway...very uncivilised Imo
I have tubi with cats, not quiet at idle, sounds amazing from 4000rpm, if you want it louder put car by passes on with a tubi or capristo, Capristo has a higher pitch than the tubi, but not significantly, I wouldn't imagine different headers make any noticeable difference to noise. I had a tubi on my 360 also, very noisy at idle , especially when cold, sounded amazing above 3000rpm, but was quite boomy on motorways which the 355 tubi doesn't do ?? cheers scott.
These two cars appear to have different exhausts, one I think is the capristo and one I think is the challenge exhaust. MS Racing. I believe it has the sound qualities you are looking for. Do a search on YouTube, there are several videos on it including a site with a compilation or playlist of it. Cheers
Pocono Raceway 6-24-13 Blue Run Group My F355 Challenge has CATS. The Gallardo sounds nice too. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ymWiTGmzIQ]1995 Ferrari F355 Challenge at Pocono Raceway - YouTube[/ame]
