Does anyone have updated information on the present status of the Captree/OBI Sunday AM gathering?
Last Sunday had usual large gathering of all car types. Seems to fill up by 8 to 830 am. the new town park has opened fishing pier and walkway so some of the construction is gone. Cops have been checking reg & inspection stickers as you pull in and out at times!
As I witnessed today, Captree/OBI is alive and well, at least for the present time. The usual arrays of exotics were present ( lambos, p-cars, f-cars, some really nice European marks, super nice 150 Jag and a TR4) as were the usual array of American cars. Perhaps about 300 cars today on this sunny July Sunday.
Town of Babylon officials confirmed last week that there are two more phases of development for the park. First is to move the access roadway to raise it above "sea level." The second is to bring in stores and a restaurant. They are not committing to when the second phase will be but they said there would not be access by permit but did not rule out a parking fee. I suspect OBI Sundays will be alive and well for at least another year.
Ahh interesting, i came at 11 yesterday, i was tied up in the morning and there were absolutely no cars lol! I wish we had a Crystal Cove type meet every week like they do in Cali!
Come by at 8:30 and you will be amazed. There were over 500 cars there on Father's Day; lots of Ferraris, Lambos, Porsche, Lotus, etc. I can't imagine what more would be at Crystal Cove.
Yea i use to go early, recently i havent been able to, busy with other things. Next Sunday i will probably be there, look out for me, seal grey with techart, gt2 wing!!
