I have a new to me 2001 Lamborghini Diablo. Having trouble starting the car. Battery is new. Engine just cranks with the dashboard red round alarm light blinking. Engine cranks fine, but the immobilizer must still be activated. Pressed the button on the FOB and tried again, but still would not start. Any comments are most appreciated.

Have you tried other fobs? I don't have my car here to check, but when I get in and turn the ignition on (but not try to crank the car) the light comes up red. Pressing the fob gives an audible tone, and I think the light blinks once or twice and then goes out - doesn't sound like yours is doing that. Might be the battery in the fob is dead.

Put new batteries in both FOBs. Tried both FOBs but car will not start. Seems like the immobilizer will not let go of the engine. Prior to attempting to start the car, I was adjusting the steering wheel column. Found that I could not lock the steering wheel into place. This may be related, don't know. Discussed the situation with my Lamborghini mechanic. Car has been trucked to his shop across town. When I have more information, I will update...

My mechanic reported that the car battery was the problem. When he charged the battery, it started right up. I was way off on this one. Mechanic is going to check the charging circuits to see if there is an unexpected drain on the battery. Thanks for your help!
