Ferrari F355 Archived Test ? Review ? Car and Driver Not sure if this has been posted before but it is a really fun article to read. Nice PDF download links are included!
It shows up OK on my antique, coal-powered computer. The article is from the March 1995 issue of C&D.
Perspective from 1995: "Maybe a sushi bar opened in Maranello, maybe Shinto missionaries have been working northern Italy, or just maybe someone at Ferrari drove an NSX and took notes."
I wish YouTube was around back then. I would have loved to cringe at them driving the 355 in a Michigan winter.
Cool article, some of the comments by posters are predictably lame (ie the My Mustang is faster and did not cost half of what that Ferrari cost). The 355 is a timeless design and there seems to be much appreciation in the comments that refer it's beauty. I was a bit surprised to see the critical comments regarding 308/328 from the author, I have not heard many people complain about their handling only the relative lack of horsepower compared to the insane levels that one can get in many cars today like the Z06 Vette and GTR, but that could be leveled at almost any car made before the last 10 years.
Thank you for posting the article. My appreciation for the 348 has grown as I learn more about it. It is clearly the last Ferrari without a bunch of driving aids (although air bags instead of stupid mechanized belts would be nice). The late models definitely have improvements over the early ones. I love my Mondial T coupe, but would like to get a 348 spyder if I had more garage space.
Be sure to check out the downloadable data sheet in the middle column. It is a nice handy reference source and includes fun/useful info including max speed in each gear (@8500 rpm). Gets close to 60 in first gear... I just read the comments at the end of the article. Some of them are pretty good for a laugh...
