Hello Everyone: Purchased a 1970 Ghibli Coupe back in August. Am looking to purchase a nice quality outdoor car cover with mirror pockets. Has anyone bought one lately and been satisfied with their purchase? Thank you in advance, Frank O'Donnell The Villages, FL
I see your dilemma. Covercraft used to make them for cars of that vintage. I got one for my 71 Espada but they have stopped offering them. I have one for my 2005 Jag STR which sits outside 24/7 and that cover is amazing. This is the fabric https://www.covercraft.com/us/en/product/custom-covercraft-5-layer-softback-all-climate-car-cover.C-CCAC Call them up and ask if they still have the pattern. Mirror pockets are going to be a problem though as all sorts of mirrors in various locations were used on those cars Best of luck.
staatsof: Yeah, kind of missed the obvious there about the mirrors. Covercraft says "No", not anymore. I'll look for one without mirror pockets. That will be easier. Thanks for your input. -Frank
They changed hands somewhere in the last couple of years and are no longer what they were. Like a lot of things ... Maybe they'd sell you the fabric for that style of cover because so far ... it's been fantastic. Then have a custom cover guy make one. Seriously this fabric really works magic up here in the NE with sun, rain and snow.
CAR COVER PURCHASED! Contacted Big Sky Car Covers and their representative had Covercraft used a pattern they had on hand that fit my 1970 Ghibli perfectly. No mirror pockets as placement varied according to the original buyer's preference. Under $300.
Glad to be of help. I just purchased 3 more car covers from Covercraft for cars still listed in their catalogue because I feared they might soon disappear. At two years old my Jag cover is still superb but I view these as commodity that eventually has to be replaced and to be able to maintain my Jag outdoors as well as I have I ... think it's amazing.
