As a new owner I am learning all the in's and out's of being a Ferrari owner. I read somewhere that you should not put the car cover on unless the car is clean.

The question I would like to ask the forum is simple; if I take my car out for a 2 hour drive, do I have to wash it each time I put the cover on?

The best thing to do after a quick ride is go over the car with a California Duster, clean the windows, get any bugs off the nose, then put the car cover on.

I would not use a California duster. Use it once and it fills with dirt. Dragging the "dirt" over the car will cause swirls. I use a liquid detailer like speed shine or Maquires final inspection and use a micofiber towel to clean it if it is dirty. Do not clean in circles. Back and forth in direction of front to back. If it is not that dirty I just put the cover on it. i use the duster on the wheels only

^^ If the car has dust on it you're still scratching it. The CA duster IMO is a good way to get the loose dust off, quick etc. before applying a cover. Keep shaking it to clean it a bit. Any way you slice it the surface is getting fine scratches until you use a haze remover again.

Not really the liquid speed shines and Final Inspection floats the dust for easy removal. Of course this is only for lite dust. A duster is not used by concourse people because one use just attracts dust and because of the wax embedded in the duster you can shake off all the dust and grit. Not a good idea. To each is own.

It depends on how you want to take care of your car. Some drive their Ferrari's in all weather and treat it like a Ford Escort and some don't drive it in the rain like me. If you want your car to look mint than do not put a car cover on it unless the car was just washed and dried and the cover is perfectly clean. Never touch anything to the painted surface unless you rinse the car down and are washing it. What you are doing if the car is dry is causing scratches by dusting it with whatever you try using.

I don't use it in bad weather, and it stays in the garage when not driven. I would NEVER put a cover on it, or "wash" it with a spray, or wipe it with anything if it's dirty. I leave it as is, and wash it once a month or so. If you see my cars, they always look like they are ready for a show, and have zero swirl marks. I cringe when I see a car with swirl marks. I also cringe when I see someone touch the paint with anything when it's dirty....unless they are doing a "proper" wash. That's just me, I'm a little nuts though. ;)

yes, store your Ferrari in a garage if not in use and keep your car clean and free of dust and debris :)

I keep my 575M well waxed and wipe it off with a chamois after a drive. If I get into rain then wash the car before putting on the cover.
If the car is well waxed water will bead off and then dry with a chamois.
    Hope this helps.

    No cover.

Invisible glass cleaner on the glass, clean the rims and leave the metal of the car alone.

NEVER in eight years with two different Ferrari did anyone EVER mention dust on the car.

Wash 3 to 4 times and year and wax.

    Done.

Now go drive it and ENJOY it!!!

    :)
