That looks much better than the car they actually produced. Looks great and the technology would be very helpful. I think they should have made it with a ~3.5 liter naturally aspirated V6 and it'd have been perfect. Hybrids and small-displacement forced induction engines are not attractive. All the best, Andrew.
Were they also inspired by sport shoes? Those look miles better. Reminds me of one of these but on a far less attractive body.
I really like the look of the new Evoque, but you guys are discouraging me regarding its performance. I'll have to take one for a test drive.
Maybe I'm just pinning it in the wrong category. For size and engines, it actually seems somewhere in between a Ford Escape and a Ford Edge. If you want the better engines, you need to go one size up to the Range Rover Velar: Third Generation Ford Escape / Second Generation Ford Kuga: Wheelbase: 105.9 in (2,690 mm) Length: 178.1 in (4,524 mm) Width: 72.4 in (1,838 mm) Height: 67.0 in (1,702 mm) Curb weight: 3,483–3,763 lb (1,580–1,707 kg) - FWD Engines: 1.6 EcoBoost petrol, 2.0 EcoBoost petrol/diesel Second Generation Evoque: Wheelbase: 105.6 in (2,681 mm) Length: 172.1 in (4,371 mm) Width: 78.6 in (1,996 mm) Height: 64.9 in (1,649 mm) Kerb weight: 3,940–4,310 lb (1,787–1,955 kg) - FWD/AWD Engines: ~2 liter, I4, petrol/diesel Second Generation Ford Edge: Wheelbase: 112.2 in (2,850 mm) Length: 188.1 in (4,779 mm) Width: 75.9 in (1,928 mm) Height: 68.6 in (1,742 mm) Curb weight: 3,912 lb (1,774 kg) - FWD Curb weight: 4,060 lb (1,840 kg) - AWD Engines: 2 liter I4 EcoBoost, 2.7 liter V6 EcoBoost Sport, 3.5 liter V6 Range Rover Velar: Wheelbase: 113.1 in (2,874 mm) Length: 189.1 in (4,803 mm) Width: 80.0 in (2,032 mm) Height: 65.6 in (1,665 mm) Kerb Weight: 3,977–4,319 lb (1,804–1,959 kg) - AWD Engines: 2 liter I4 petrol/diesel, 3 liter V6 forced induction petrol/diesel, 5 liter supercharged V8 Second Generation Range Rover Sport: Wheelbase: 115.1 in (2,923.5 mm) Length: 191 in (4,851.4 mm) Width: 81.6 in (2,072.6 mm) Height: 71.3 in (1,811.0 mm) Kerb weight: 4,727 lb (2,144.1 kg) - AWD Engines: 2 liter I4 petrol/diesel, 3 liter V6 petrol/diesel, 4.4 liter V8, 5 liter V8, 5 liter supercharged V8 Fourth Generation Range Rover: Wheelbase: 115.0 in (2,922 mm) / 122.9 in (3,122 mm) - Long wheelbase Length: 196.8 in (4,999 mm) / 204.7 in (5,199 mm) - Long wheelbase Width: 78.1 in (1,984 mm) (body) / 81.6 in (2,073 mm) (mirrors folded) / 87.4 in (2,220 mm) (mirrors extended) Height: 72.2 in (1,835 mm) Kerb weight: 4,762–5,203 lb (2,160–2,360 kg) Engines: 2 liter I4 petrol, 3 liter V6, 5 liter V8 diesel, 4.4 liter V8 With the better engine and slightly more space, the Velar looks like the better car: But it's very pricey. And, weirdly, although their design language seems the same, the Evoque looks like aesthetically pleasing than the Velar - though I can't really figure out why. All the best, Andrew.
I almost bought the Velar. Wound up with the Alfa Stelvio. Yes, the Velar is pricey. I looked real hard at it, but was inlined to side with the Alfa. The design vocabulary of the Land Rover is appealing to my sense of style; clean and straightforward. The Alfa is a more overt and Italian. The Alfa has that fun to drive Italian DNA. Maybe when the Alfa lease is up.......
The past weekend at Retromobile , We just Image Unavailable, Please Login finished the restoration of the Lancia Zero a few weeks back .
