Lipstick on a pig. That front end grill needs to be lowered and since it's a mid engine the engine hard point rules don't apply. No excuse for the C8's bad styling.

The more I think about it I want to go revisionist on the C8 and write an article revoking whatever i said in a introductory article about the design other than congratulations on going mid-engine. All the grates look suspiciously like plastic grates in the floor of some in industrial kitchen, or worse public bathroom. In fact the floor grates look better when they re metal. If you look at the clay model there is a purer unsullied shape, So they have not created an enduring design. Sort of like Marilyn Monroe in a badly cut dress.

This clay model is so much better than the final car.

I agree; it seems the 'need' to carry 2 golf bags mucked up the rear on the production car. Or, maybe it was a nod to tradition....big butts in Corvettes have been a thing for a long while.

The clay resolves the issues I have with the boomerang side intake while also arching the rear fender back downward, which I prefer. The clay model's lower side intake also invokes the "stingray" emblem silhouette.

He sort of lost me when he fairly drastically recontoured the roofline.
When I cut to the end result the rear profile really reminded me of something from one of the weirder British companies, but it took a couple of days for the penny to drop; Panther Solo...

BTW, does anyone else think the new Corvette would look better with the side vents in body colour? I can't say that the design is wearing very well; I like it less each time I see it.

Thanks for posting that picture. That car had completely left my memory. It hasn’t aged particularly well but it was pretty cool in its day.

I'm with you on the body color vent. Too many black pieces.

    You have two choices:
    (1) Get a black Corvette, or
    (2) Be prepared to pay about $1,000 to get the boomerangs in body color.

Pisses me off being forced to have to pay money to overcome other people's bad taste!

It looks as if someone fell in love with the R8, but on that car it sort of works because I think that car is, dare I say, deliberately "functional".

I think the C8 would have greatly profited in perceived sophistication if designers had set their pencils down a bit earlier.
The new Corvette has far too many surfaces and gaps, and a comparison of the new car with the still beautiful Aerovette is not very flattering ...

Tere's no point in repainting; there will still be a seam there as it is a seperate part and it will look even more like a cheap add on.

And in all honesty, I need to say every one of that team are close friends of mine. So I tread lightly here.

Frustrating at times isnt it? I would love to give my real thoughts on visual design in todays movies but I have to hold my tongue as Im friends with most of the designers.
