Always special to see #11 out and about. Thanks for sharing some wonderful views from the show field there; especially the GM contingent!
Well, ****... those are pretty cars. Why did they not see the light of day until now? All the best, Andrew.
The Pontiac could have been a casualty of the forced killing of the brand. Apparently Lutz fought hard to keep Pontiac but the Washington appointed suits were not going to listen. As for the Cadillac, I suspect that there was a decision that coupes do not sell so don't do anything, no matter how nicely done, to show the idea.
The Ghia bodied Chrysler shows just how good Exner could be. The shame is that more of this design language was not part of the production cars. Even more shame that Chrysler let their French operation do small production runs but never imported the cars to the US.
And I would suppose that this proposal was done just before the end of the brand. Potentially for the planned next generation G8. I suspect that the Cadillac coupe is much more recent as it adopts the current sedan chrome piece aft of the DLO. Maybe they were trying to do what John had been successful with - make a coupe proposal that wows the top leaders enough that it gets approved.
Correct, the Pontiac was 2008, done in the California Studio under Frank Saucedo’s direction. The Cadillac was 2016, at the end of Ed Wilburn’s tenure.
I know this is quirky and a semi-ugly duckling, but I've always liked it. And the wheels are just right! https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1964-alfa-romeo-giulia-1600-sprint-speciale-5/
