    Texas!
Up in the Ferrari section, there's a thread about which Ferrari designs have gotten better over time. My vote was the Enzo. I thought it was butt ugly when new, but... it's not so bad now.

This give me the idea for this thread. Haters gotta hate, right?

My first candidate is the C7 Corvette. Yeah, I know it's still new, but this babe ain't gonna get any prettier over time. Check out the white car to see what I mean. The only color this car looks good in is black.

Now, compare the C7 to a F360. Cars and women have curves. It's really too bad because a C7 is a great driver's car at an Lexus price. Come on Detroit, you can do better.

The Mustang II was bad. It fundamentally was 2 different designs that were mated in the door panel.

I do not loathe the Corvette C5 but am aware of its troubled design development which makes me dislike it. As a friend called it, its as if the designers were tired of working on it and just wanted to be finished. Lots of politics were swirling at that time.

I wish I could share the photo of the design that was supposed to be the C5 when CJ retired. It was based upon this show car.

Nissan has done a bunch of reprehensible designs for years. It is easier to say which were the last one that were good: The 300ZX and first generation Murano.

I don't like the retro Camaro. The squashed upper makes it look like a Tonka toy instead of a real car. Beyond that, they picked the wrong series to go retro from.

The 67 - 69 first generation Camaro broke no new design ground. Compare that to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th which had their own language.

I thought the C5 was and still is one of the prettiest Corvettes ever, especially when it first was launched. Nothing remotely looked like it and I thought the rear bumper slits were very original. The current 'Vette looks like a mishmash of nonsensical add-ons, sort of like some of the old Toyota MR2s and I hate the Camaro like tail light configuration.

I agree on the current Corvette. Its surfaces are overworked.

All flat and hard-edged. Looks really cheap.

Upcoming mid-engine looks to be even worse.

Agree Mustang II was pretty awkward looking (mostly because based on the Pinto platform) but it had some very modern touches--the tail lights, for example--and the surfacing was very clean and unadorned. I was convinced it was done in Italy by Ghia, but don't believe this was the case.

As for the Camaro, I just don't understand how they could have gotten this so wrong. Twice now! To your point, imagine what a great car they could have created using the 2nd generation as inspiration and making a normally proportioned greenhouse.

They went down market and drove home the point with its cheap and flimsy looking design.

Still looks like an over stuffed banana. I have never liked high belt lines. Reminds me on an old man wearing old man pants.

LOL, I was lucky enough to find a picture of that awful colored car to emphasize the banana analogy! Sorry to all for having to see that.

I appreciate your frankness and politeness in agreeing to disagree but I will respectfully say that, in my opinion and to my sensibilities, the car looks even worse and more bloated in that color and that angle.

The beltline rising, peaking at the centre of the car and then drooping and sagging at the tail--common on most Mercs since-- just makes these cars look fat and very static.

Great looking lines, to my eye.
