This car was tested in S. Cal. I assume it was a US car without an LC button, but the LC mode can be invoked as previously described in an earlier thread.
The 3.3 0-60 number is right there with the Enzo and the 6.8 to 100 is a couple of tenths slower than and Enzo but in the same league as a CGT. Quite amazing for a front engine luxury car that is really a very competent Grand Tourer first and foremost.
I wonder what this car could do with really sticky tires like Pilot Cup Sports?

Anyone still calling this car "ugly", just take a good look at that pic...

The 599's presence in photos aren't nearly as good as the car is in person IMHO, though that is a nice pic.

Thought I was reading 'Consumer Reports' for a minute there. Lots of detailed information. Thanks for the scan.
One of the more interesting features some people have tested is the g's reading when cornering to the left and how it compare with turning right. Some cars generate similar numbers in both directions but some show .05 difference depending on left or right turns. Corner weight with the driver in the vehicle is another new stat. Different day on a different track might be a different story but still, those brakes generate some great numbers! Did FNA send their 'tech guys' for test day? New tires make a big difference in the numbers a 599 can generate. A difference even on the dyno...

Not ugly, but nondescript by Pininfarina's standards. Yes, I have seen 5 or 6 of them in person - at least 2 red, 2 black, and 1 metallic dark red. They're not especially exotic looking next to a 575M or 430, but handsome in the way the Maseratis are.

Can't argue with the technology or the performance. That is amazing - nearly 4000 lbs and it scoots to 60 in a tick over 3 seconds -- and it weighs more than two Lotus Elises.

In fact, remind me why would you buy an Enzo again...

From that angle nothing to say, but from too many others...
let's say that I have seen many nicer cars and yes, I have seen more than one in person and still do not like it. But it is just my opinion...
    Ciao

It's obviously a "ringer" that Ferrari sent over to C&D, equipped with a ZO6 engine ROFL ;)

Could not be said better. I just read the article as it just arrived in the mail and it is one heck of an article. I am shocked by what this car can do. It is just as fast as an ENZO and can hold your luggage?? WOW!

Very true. Saw a red one in Miami earlier this year and was in love. I am not a fan of the back of the car but I am a HUGE fan of what this car can do. I am in LOVE!

C+D seems to be right in line with the test I did of a 599 for my car column. We did 0-60 in 3.55 with two people in the car and not using the Ferrari launch method.

I will also agree with Townshend in that it represents better in person. The beauty of the 599 GTB is in the fine design details, plus the cars performance capabilities given its ability to be comfortable and practical.

C+D is fine, but I get all my information from Youtube, where the 599 has been beaten by nearly everything on four wheels. ;)

    Hello,

I just saw one in person @ the Ferrari-Maserati Park Avenue Showroom in New York city. Like most Ferraris, save final judgement until you see the car in person. Very attractive indeed.

The article is from the Jun. 07 issue of C&D to answer an earlier question.

The test car was not the car pictured in the article; according to the author.

The Ferrari Techs allowed 4 drop clutch, hard launches before "parking it."

I was MASSIVELY impressed by the straight-line performance of the car given it's power-to-weight ratio when compared to the ~700 lb. lighter Enzo (even though another publication verified the under-rated power of the 599 with a dyno to be ~10 hp.).

I think it was C&D that got a 136 mph 1/4 mile trap speed out of the Enzo years ago . . . ~700 lb. heavier and 40-50 hp WEAKER but ONLY 5 mph slower in the 1/4 is almost UNBELIEVABLE!!!

The author of the article also noted similar facts to the Ferrari representatives in the article to which they stated the Enzo was "5 year old Tech" . . . the F1 SuperFast transmission shifts much quicker now with a far more sophisticated Differential to improve traction over the Enzo.

    I say . . . the 599 is dam# near the PERFECT CAR.

-vs- my LP640. I guess the 599 wins out. This really is THE CAR!
