    Keep in mind Car and Driver had an exotic car comparison last year in which the 458 finished second to a porsche turbo 911!!! The main reasons they mentioned was price and the fact that the porsche was quieter around town. Most of these car mag comparisons idiotic when looked at logically. The results may also have to do with which car company has the most adds in their magazine.

    What option is it to get the engine painted black or carbon fiber covered like the one in this test is?

    I don't think you can get it painted black. The carbon fibre option is called MNFC and costs €5800 excluding all taxes.

    If Car and Driver compared the 458 to a Kia, the Kia would win.

    Quieter
    More luggage space
    Cheaper
    Better fuel economy
    Nicer ride on the road
    Better Nav system
    Easier to park
    Depreciation less

    Why would anyone want a 458? :)
