I was waiting a little longer for the correct heel pads to arrive from Italy.
Worth the wait for the correct pieces. Unfortunately my carpet came in the wrong color.... Actually glad it happened that way because I was able to clean and keep the original carpet.
Is the front spoiler a flat or rough finish? Also, all I have is Rosso Corsa as the color, but what was the correct paint code for a 77 GTB? Rosso (Salchi 133 B 34) or Rosso Corsa (Glasurit FER 300/9)? Anyone know where to buy a new paint sticker?
I remember my 83 QV's deep front spoiler has a flat finish underneath, will confirm tomorrow and take a picture if possible. Paint codes, see this: http://www.eurospares.co.uk/userImages/ebayShop/PaintCode.htm Rossi Corsa/FER 300 is for 80-83. Your 77 should be Rosso Chiaro 20.3.90 according to the above table. The stickers are available on eBay from time to time.
Correct, no Rosso Corsa in 1977. Depending on when your car was painted it will have come with either a Glidden-Salchi label or a Salchi label (without the Glidden logo). Both have two fields. Both were in use in 1977. The paint code is normally written in the bottom field. Rosso Chiaro was referred to as 20-R-190 on the my.ferrari.com page when I registered several years ago.
Found this pic in another thread. I saved it for reference. My 78' 308 is Rosso Chiaro Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Image Unavailable, Please Login Front spoiler. Image Unavailable, Please Login Underneath is rough not flat.
I registered 5 years ago and back then you got the paint code, leather code, build date plus a few other details. Now there is nothing. Zero point in registering your car with them now.
So it looks like Rosso Chiaro is closer to the updated Rosso Scuderia? It apparently has a lot more orange than the new Rosso Corsa color?
Sean, It might be worth a call to Steve at the FoH Body Shop, he can guide oyu throught the modern versions of our original colors. They have the machine there to actually mix the paint colors in house. At this point, you certainly do NOT want to end up with the "wrong red".... Forget the names, and see what he would check as your original Code #... Do you still have the trunk sticker??
Anyone feel it is a mistake to fill in the side markers and go with EU versions? I really like the clean look of the EU markers and have a set on the way.
One hundred years from now....someone will have to note in the Sale Ad: "One of many legally imported North American versions, that were later modified because folks did not like the rectangular side lights...." We must have generated dozens of them, over the years!!
Your instincts are correct. Side markers are an ugly add on to these beautiful cars. I'm currently taking my 85 Euro spec QV back to Euro spec aesthetically. Removing rear marker lights and replacing front markers with true repeaters. I only wish 84/85 had the small round lights like earlier models and 288. Sticking to originality though.
I don't argue about taking them off of originally Euro cars.. I was talking about all the North American cars, that have them removed. I guess you would throw away one distributor, in search of "styling"? It is, what it is....
I'm slowly preparing to put my car back together and paint it back to original color. Silver. It's a US model but when I did it 15 years ago I did put the euro front spoiler and small bumpers to have the euro look. Im even trying to collect as many correct spare, tool, jack etc but.... Now before painting it silver I WILL fill the side marker. I hate them. If someone buy the car later he can put them back if he want.
It depends..... Judging standards seek to score "originality", as it left the factory. So, there are many market variations, and to make them all "appear Euro" is a styling fad. It's not originality at all.....
I talked to Steve at FOH and he was helpful for sure. He said the PPG code would be FER 190, or Glasurit 20R190 will be very close. He also said those cars were a single stage urethane, not base/clear like modern cars...a knowledgeable eye could definitely tell the difference. Base/Clear will definitely be a deeper shine than the old single stage paints...but I don't feel like I'd be devaluing my car using a base/clear and not a single stage.
