Yesterday I found myself in a very uncomfortable situation. I was parking inside a garage with a sloping driveway and a very tight bend at the end that required a few manoeuvres. At some point I was very close to the wall ahead of me (5cm) and very close to the wall on the back (10cm). Parking sensors where going crazy and singing their song at full volume. I needed to back up a little, so I put the car in reverse and when I pushed the accelerator, the car inched forward! I stopped immediately, thinking I forgot to get into reverse? No, the reverse was engaged, so I switched gears again and the same happened. Then the car issued a warning "Manoeuvre not permitted" and refused to move! I was stuck and it took a lot of attempts to get out of that situation, which eventually presented itself on the way out, for the same reason.

I realized that if the parking sensors sense something very close to the back side (and maybe on the front side as well), putting the car in reverse will actually push it forward. If there's not enough space (according to the sensors) the car stalls and doesn't move anymore. I understand the spirit of this safeguard, but if the car "stalls" and decides not to move, it's an even bigger problem.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there a workaround to disable such a behavior?

Was this inching forward and back on the sloping driveway itself?

Yes it was on the forward sloping part of the driveway. Today I managed to reproduce the inching forward (but not the part where the car stalls completely) while flat so I am think it's possibly intentional.
