I recently bought a Euro 308 that is in need of some attention. The car has a car has a cracked exhaust manifold. I live in the Palatine area and would like to find someone to work on the car somewhat close by. Any help would be appreciated.

Great, Ed's like the most honest guy in this business you'll ever meet.

    And he's reasonable too!

'Chas348' had his 348 there today. I saw Charlie on Illinois during the downburst.

    Charlie, you've got guts!! :)

Welcome to the club! Guess I'm not the only Euro 308 around town any more. From what I understand, there are only about 100 Euros in the US. The front and rear exhaust headers on mine are cracked, and T. Rutlands said they had the parts, so when the order was placed, they realized it was a mistake in their computer, they don't have them, so now I'm looking...

I'd like to drive mine a bit more, but everytime it comes out of the garage something breaks on it.

Yes,you should just have him look over the whole car and get together with you and make a list of what needs to get done. And,as you can, start with the most important things and work your way down the list as you can.

You got the Car to have fun with. But,it's certainly no fun when stuff keeps breaking. But,as you get it done,it will become the fun Car that you wanted.

What Year is this Car? How many Miles are on it? Do you have any Service Records showing what was done and when? Old Cars....Any old car.... always need stuff like Belts,Seals,Hoses,Clamps,Etc...that Dry Rot. When did it last have a Major Service? If one of those Belts give out while you are Driving, you just bought yourself a New Engine. Getting a Service done, right there would probably take care of most of the Gremlins that are giving you grief.

Also, being a Euro Model. Do you have all of the DOT/EPA Paperwork/Releases for it?

    Frank makes some good points!

I saw the car today, and it's not an 83' as shown in the bio. It's probably an 82'; possibly records got screwed up when it was federalized.

The odo is showing 38K(probably kms).

Yes......I do check these things out! :)

The car is supposed to be a very early '83'. The odo is in miles. The rest is metric. The plan is to have Ed check it out and let me know all that is wrong with the car and then work to make it a fun driver car. I don't have much paperwork on the car, but have talked to the mechanic who did most of the recent work on it. Just need Ed to verify that it was really done. Hopefully all will be good with the car after we fix the cracked header.

Thanks guys for all your input on this. The car has been at Ed's shop for the last week and should be home soon. He is replacing the cracked header and taking care of a few other issues. Ed's been great to work with and it's a bonus that he's so close to where I live. I can't wait to drive the car again.

Saw you're car today and the manifold is on. Chris was test driving it and I asked him how it ran. He said, "Like a Ferrari"!

Heck, Chris was even washing your car for you.

John's recently purchased Countach is in the shop too; it aint running at all.

Has about 3600 mi. on it, and John states he knows it hasn't been driven in the past 8 years. I think John is looking at one big ticket to get his Lambo operational!
