I barely drove my over the last couple of years, I started the car up today and the slowdown light is on, not flashing. I've heard this could be a cat ecu or thermocoupler. Is that correct? Should I start doing the trial and error, unplug ecu, switch sides etc?

EDIT - Sorry gents I should have read a few threads down, seems to be common, looks like a bad tcu, i'll start there.

Just swap the cat ecu with each other (left and right) and check if the slowdown ligh of the other cylinder bank lights on, if this is the case you have a broken cat ecu. Br Rob

Do you have a OBD reader and do you know how to run a
    Code scan?

    Do you have a CEL?

Check all the connections. Get a code reader. Your code may be pending, and not setting off the CEL, but I am pretty sure you get different codes for L & R banks, and bypass with the SDL. It has been a while since I tackled that issue, and with the help of Dr Bob and the forum I got it worked out.

ok here are the codes I go

p0432 catalyst 2 efficiency below threshold bank 2 (I have exhaust and test pipes, I think this code is because of that )

p1448 - Bypass valve (I have a capristo bypass valve), is there a bypass valve ecu?

p1449 - driver side ecu (does this mean if I replace the cat ecu were good to go? )

    p1445 - pass ecu

Soooo.. do these codes mean all my cat ecu's are shot or do I need to eliminate them? Could I have screwed these by having the car boosted?

    thanks

    Ryan,

You say you have exhaust and test pipes. What do you mean? Are all of the sdecu (3 of them) and thermocouples (3 of them) installed?

There is one for each side catalyst or in your case test pipe and one after the bypass valve. There are bungs or were originally for three thermocouples. One on each cat and one on the muffler after the bypass valve.

If you're going to trouble shoot this yourself, have a look at exactly what you have installed in your car and the status of it. Are all 6 components there and are all connectors plugged into each sdecu? Are all 3 thermocouples there snd are they plugged into the sdecu and are they secured into their respective bungs?

From there I'll try and walk you through some troubleshooting.

Is the light flashing or solid? Does it come on from cold start? Flashing or solid?

Thanks for the help bob. I have tubi exhaust with fabspeed test pipes, all thermocouples seem to be connected. The sdl light comes on flashing at cold starts .

With codes on every sdecu, you've got some troubleshooting to do.

    Check your pm Ryan

Drbob, has been hugely helpful, thank you. I checked voltage on the signal wire, all seems to be fine. I cleared the codes, drove the car, parked it. Drove it again, parked it. no codes. I triple checked all the connections, everything seems fine. I even bought a cat ecu so I have a new one in the event I need it. No sdls anymore, the car sort of fixed itself, very strange.
