Just out of curiosity, what is the best way for someone to go about having a photoshoot done of their car? I'm not looking for something sponsored by a company, but just something for my personal enjoyment.

    Do people do this?

There are lots of us who would love to do a photoshoot, some for free (like me) some for a price. What state do you live in? If you live near me I would do it. Otherwise check out the regional forums and ask around, I'm sure you'll find somebody willing.

I've been a pro photographer for 20+ years & do cars a lot. If you don't want to pay a pro, contact your local college art dept & see if there is a photography professor interested in using your car for a class project. Ok, it's bold but you will find some students who would love to do your car for cheap.

    What he said.

Nothing is worse than seeing a beautiful car (or woman) composed brilliantly - along with the perfectly in-focus house, building or tree behind it. Also look at the car as a mirror - see anything in the reflection in the paint or windows you don't want to see ? Polarize it out. Do you need to bring a jack and adjust the wheels so the 'spokes' are all facing the same way (if applicable) ?
Also, do it at dusk, with the parking lights on.......
