Ok, I have been floating around now for the last 5 years or so since podcasting became popular and I have to say, automotive (video) podcasts suck.

Hack ideas, poor camera work, low production quality, poor scripting, and a general lack or anything 'quality' about them.

You'd think from all these folks riding shotgun in nice cars, somewhere, somehow, actually using the camera to its full potential would have accidently occured, but alas, I would be wrong to assume that. I would me remiss if I did not mention that the kids have little expectations of them, but the adults that leech off the community still can't seem to get their acts together years in to this great experiment.

Seriously, if you are going to ride b1tch in someone's car under the guise of shooting some footage, maybe you should take some classes and not just churn out crap guys.

So if you have a good podcast you can suggest, please by all means do, I am listening.

Issue number one - how to properly 'mic' the car's engine - that's ALL I want to hear from these in-car vids - no commentary, no 'techno music', no wind buffering, just the engine - clear, clean sound of the car's engine and exhaust note. It seems as though NO ONE knows how to do this correctly, and as a result, they all sound like crap.

and every ****** thinks they are being witty! the sad thing is they think they are as funny as Top Gear, and they are not.

they all treat it like "info-tainment" which falls short of being informative or entertaining.

The shutter speeds stink, the focus stinks, the sound stinks, and it is always the same old crap over and over again. There are fundamental principals that they lack so severely, that it astounds me, but I guess in the absence of "good" "mediocre" will suffice. What each one lacks is originality for one and for some, certain production elements work better than across the board changes.

It is not my job for show-by-show to tell each producer what they lack, it is up to them to entertain us the public who can see dorifto videos of every car under the sun, or burnouts, or 1/4 mile and random rev'ing at the click of a mouse.

Hollywood writers have nothing to fear if this is to be the competition. The internet is a delivery medium, NOT the product.
