I will be in Atlanta for the Petit LeMans race on the 26th of September (next Saturday), and following the race I plan to spend some time driving the beautiful mountain roads of GA, NC, and TN.

Rather than shipping up one of my cars, I am contemplating renting a car while there. So, does anyone have a hookup to get a decent car for several days while I am there???

    Yep. I spoke with Will.

I'm not really looking for an exotic car to rent, just something fun to drive.

Go to Avis, they rent the new Camaro. That might be fun.

I rented one last month. You sit down low with a high beltline and what feel like slits for windows all around. On top of that, it wasn't the top of the line, so it was slow. It felt like a big American car with none of the American muscle.

I'm sure the big V-8 is faster and tighter.

If you can find one, rent a Corvette rather than a base Camaro.

Agree, if it is not a V8 then it will not be any fun.............at least with a V8 you can smoke the tires down to the rim..........and then return it :D

Actually the Hertz cars are LS3s with 436 hp. But they have the base suspension and a raised ride height....

Not sure if any "tweaks" are done to the rentals, but even a V6 Camaro shouldn't be "slow". The V6's still run mid 14's. Quicker then most cars on the road. But not even close to the high 12's low 13's of the V8.
