Better to just drive like Miss Daisy for the first few minutes of your drive instead of leaving the car idling from cold for 5mins plus each time ... you will create hotspots throughout the engine that will cost you in rings and seals amongst other things.

I get strange noises all the time with mine, but being a spider I kind of expect it. That being said I've always thought the carbon fibre in the dash does creak occasionally, but maybe I'm wrong.

Just checked with owner who confirmed with workshop that it's the suspension noise which is an iritating problem. They can grease it but it'll be back after a wet day or over time. Anyway, I don't hear it while driving. It only happens when going over humps.

Bro, 5mins is far too long. I normally let it idle for 30secs +/- before driving the next few kms in relaxed mode. This has discussed many times in several forums about warming up your ride. Many modern cars don't need the warming up procedure with modern design & new oil technology. I was told the "surge" experience is due to "cold clutch" & once it's warmed up it's fine. Even my Murcie's Gbox is a little dogey on 2nd while cold, very much like early Ferraris.

I did find & posted the link to a long detailed article about engine oil etc researched by a professor who's a car nut. He did talk about viscosity/ratings of oil & frequency of change, synthetic vs non synthetic as well. Let me dig & find.

To be precise it is the suspension bushings that is causing the clucking noise... esp over humps.

just that everytime i cold start, esp if i havent driven the car for a week or no, the car just behave horrendously. surges and groaning noises. actually its the HSM mechanics that suggest warming up. btw, can youy elaborate the "hotspots"?

That's it, I will not have a 430F1. Same problem happened to me while I left home again, car idled for a good few mins while I was on the phone, left it on "wet" mode (becos I want to have control over upshifts rather than the auto), got stuck on slip road for another 5mins :( due to traffic then when I hit the main road right in front of a most crowded Saturday lunchtime in the heart of Siglap with lots of traffic.....I stepped on the accelerator & the car simply clawwed. I swear I can even walk faster than that pace. It just wouldn't want to move much & traffic was building up behind.

Stepped on the gas harder again & blahhh.....launched forward & bugger wagged it's tail few times. Power suddenly seems to come in after 3k rpm & you feel a legion of horses pulled you like a warring Roman chariot. People must have thought that I was trying to show off or can't control the Ferrari.

This is unacceptable & I'm using it daily.

but its suppose to do that in Wet mode. The whole idea is so that u dont accelerate with too much torque at the on set.

Bro, it wagged it's tail on "Snow", "Sports" & "Race" mode too. Shall I turn off the CST (which will most probably send me crashing into the bustop) or put on full auto mode?

Anyway, it's fine after a few kms of drive. I must say it's quite a gem when doing fast drives....

I will dig some more detail out via web links etc ant post some other time but basically

if you run an engine at idle, with zero load, you are not actually force feeding fluids / air around the engine bay, it is purely relying on the pumps to move fluids with no (necessary) motion induction of air and fluids (air over rads, load on gearbox, effort through pistons - cams - driveshaft)

The end effect of an unloaded extended warm up is that you get hot spots in the engine (and cold spots that can be just as bad) ... if left, this can lead to isolated overheat situations, especially an issue if these hot spots are away from thermostats etc. end effect, cooked rings / gaskets / damaged fluids, etc etc.

it does take a while to do this, and in the heat of Singa its even less of a risk, (the whole engine will run hot instead!!!) but still ... its not best practice for an engine!!

i havent experience similar issues as you had. so far, just the moring(or whenever i start the engine after a prolong period) i get some gearbox jerkiness. i drive mostly in sport mode, havent tried snow or wet, just couple of times in race mode, so cant comment on wet or snow characteristics yet.

Winston Churchill once said, "I'm easily satisfied with the very best!"

Well, this has never quite crossed my mind, cos that means paying the most too!

The first time I met "her" was @ the party for Phil's collection of his green Gallardo spyder. I overheard that this titanium Murcielago was for sale & there it was, it stood alone @ the grande entrance of the National Museum. The color was perfect for the sharp silhouette & aggressive stance, the roadster wheels look like shapened blades from the wheels of a Roman war chariot, ready to cut the enemies' down. The long wing mirrors look like ears from a charging bull.....it simply screams speed even sitting idle. There you are, a V12 Lamborghini & one with doors that opens to reach to the sky simply because they are so long! The very best of the Bolognese breed since the great-grand father Miura that coined the word "Supercar". Does it drive like one? I don't know but it sure looks like one & it's hell as expensive as one. A cool S$1.2million for a new car then. Good enough to buy 6 Merz E-Classes or 15 Honda Civics.... However, this is a used unit. So, the first owner takes the hit :)

Anyway, I had my Gallardo then so the next best buyer would be our very own Tiong! So I texted him & he happily replied that I should buy it! Darn, he thinks I have a money tree @ home like he does :( What I do like about it is the manual gearbox, you see I was never too happy with the early Egear system offered by the Audied V10 Lambo.

Anyway, as fate puts it. What is yours is yours & not yours will not be yours no matter how tough you try....a trip to the factory in Italy & a tour of the assembly plant + museum impressed me enough to want a proper Lamborghini. I come home & for almost every night, I flipped through the chrome covered Lambo magazine worth Euro75 that was given to me by the showroom. This issue featured a grey LP640 on board an aircraft carrier! & if you guys read their ads, their copywriters are so good in making the ads. There's this advertisement that shows a butcher shop that sells horse meat in the Bolognese village. Well, you guys know what the horse means :D

Such factory magazines must be one of their "porn" for making little boys like me desire for their very expensive toys.

So, time came & I sat down for a parring session with the broker, A.K.A. the shrewdest salesman in the car industry....

45mins later. Done, a very fair deal & I was so happy that I gave the broker a gift! Now since when do you buy a car & give the salesman a gift?

2 weeks later I said goodbye to my orange Gallardo & collected my "spanking new" Murcielago from a most unceremonious parking lot.....what to do, I buy second hand. The last time I collected my Gallardo was in the middle of a night & it rained! Anyway, screw that. I buy a car to drive & to satisfy my desire :D
