So I purchased my 360 on 1/25/11. I arranged shipping with a company called Auto Transport 123 after talking/researching/taking bids from several other companies. I had estimates ranging from $700 to $1600 to ship from New Jersey to Dallas TX in an enclosed carrier. I wanted to use Elite Auto Transport but they would not be able to pick the car up until Monday 1/31. So I chose Auto Trans 123 because they were the next best company I had talked to were middle of the road as far as shipping price, ($1300.00), and agreed to pick the car up Thursday afternoon1/27. Thursday morning I get a call, the truck broke it will be Friday now... no problem 1 more day, I can wait. Friday comes no call to verify pickup... Saturday morning , I get a call driver is still delayed it wont be until Monday 1/31 now... I think WTF!!! but roll with it. Long story short... the driver just picked my car up on Thursday 2/3/11 (a week later) and now has had another mechanical and wont get me the car until 2/8 or 2/9! 14 days this has dragged on!
I have only had to ship one other car in the past and it was 3 days no problems.
Any of you had similar problems? Suggestions? I dont want to lay into the guy because he has my car on his truck... I feel like my hands are tied...

Yup, used FedEx every time! A little above average cost, but worth the experience and quality of transport.

Sorry for all your troubles. At least they have kept you up to date and not tried to skirt the issues.

Unfortunately is sounds like you're using a broker who's just shopped out the shipping. The reason for the delay is the guy is waiting for other cars, the rest is lies. See if you can get the driver on the phone directly. Hopefully you get the car in perfect shape.
Make sure you go over it with a fine tooth comb, have a witness and document everything. Pay by credit card so you can dispute charges later if a problem. Good luck.

I used Sierra Mountain Express. I was very happy with them. They were a couple of hours late but called me. I bought my car in Portland and they brought it to me in Sacramento.

I had my car shipped in from the east coast to the west coast. The driver "Patrick" was one of the most professional drivers I have ever met. He was very clean cut and professional my car was delivered on time in excellent condition.

I still to this day keep in touch with him as my clients are always having cars shipped from all over the country. Last I checked he just joined a company called Plycar.

If you are interested PM me and I will give you his personal cell phone which he has given me permission to give to potential clients. He can put in direct contact with his office.

I have no business affiliation with him; I am just a business owner trying to help out a great driver.

    Either way good luck!

I used Gran Turismo Motorsports. Very professional and really great encolsed two-level special truck with a lift system capable of transporting 6-8 cars, I think.
Call Bill or Wendy (702)561-5551 or (800)896-0008. E-mail: [email protected]. I have no affilitation with this company, but I recommend them highly.

I used Reliable Carriers for cross-country transport of my 360. Communication from the driver wasn't the greatest, but they were professional and picked up and dropped off on time, and car was delivered with absolutely no problems.

majority of shippers are just brokers.

any delay is just BS. trucks rarely break down. truckers are trying to load more cars on the way to their destinations. this is the cause of the delays.

not much you can do at this point. next time, get a shipper that operates their own fleet. or better yet, get it shipped in a trailer if you want fast shipping.

jp logistics and intercity are top notch but be prepared to pay more.

I figured they were making additional pickups. But 15 days is just not acceptable. I was really hoping to hear from people with similar experiences and see if there is any way to dispute the charges and negotiate a lower price. I was suppose to have my car no later than 2/1.
Although I am glad to hear there are several good shippers out there.

If you read the contract, there is no guarantee on delivery date. I don't think you'll get any dispensation. In this case, I think you are SOL.

Don't get too wound up over this. As long as the car is fine, you should be glad. Focus on something else.

Plycar is the best. Great driver and the trucks are very well maintained which I think indicates how they'll take care of your cars.

I used Reliable Auto Transport. Greg at RTGT in Portland Or. set everything up. They said it would take 7-10 days and it was here in Texas in 8, no problems even with the adverse weather. I would use again.

    Cheers!

Trust me, I did do research, I didnt just call the first shipper after Elite told me it would be a few days before they could pick up my car. I wasnt about to let just any company ship my car. I recieved almost 50 calls from prospective broker/shippers, of all the calls 3 companies stood out, I googled them for reviews and Auto 123 had the best reviews

I guess I am just getting a bit antsy for my car, I know the weather plays a factor, but damn... 15 days...

Look up your preferred shipper here, Looks like most of them have had a problem or two in the past... Seems like its a crapshoot with alot of these transporters...

Did you ask a Ferrari dealer for their recommendation? My car is getting the PPI done on Monday morning at FNE, and they recommended 'Intercity Lines', which is local to them. They ship Ferraris all the time, know how to drive them, have the proper equipment (enclosed trailers with hydraulic flat ramps, etc), protect seat, carpet, and steering wheel, and cover car while in transit. Needless to say, I didn't call anybody else. Freight is something I'm not going to skimp on with a Ferrari, especially when buying the car 3K miles away, sight unseen. Good luck.

+ 1 on Horseless Carriage. I believe they are based in NJ. I have use them twice on trips over 1000 miles each, and they were excellent. I have been told FNA uses them exclusively to deliver new vehicles to their dealers upon arrival from Italy.

Last month I used Exotic Car Transport based in Orlando to and from Cavallino in West Palm. Exotic was very reasonably priced (cheaper than Horseless), prompt and very professional as well. No issues and no hassle -- Ferrari arrived safe and sound. I would recommend either company, and would definitely use them again to move any of my vehicles.

    Burner,

Im not trying to advertise my company or any other company.
Just for your records, the people on transportreviews.com that have all those they pay to get the stars and the ratings... word of advise, ask dealers and they will tell you who they trust...

I know it is too late, but in the future, there are a few REALLY good guys that are based out of the Dallas area.

They haul cars all over, but work directly with/for Boardwalk Ferrari as well. I have used them to take my car to/from Dallas/Tulsa. Been VERY happy every time.

I can get your their names and numbers if you want to send me a PM.

Agree on Horseless Carriage. I shipped a Maserati QP from Boston to Scottsdale with them. They were fantastic. I too was told by Maserati of New Enland that they are the preferred carrier of Ferarri North America. My Maserati arrived in Scottsdale loaded with new Californias headed to CA.

    - If you have any doubts about the statement above (regarding transsportreivews.com), I suggest you compare their reviews to BBB reports.

-Also, as mentioned somewhere above (djantlive), most "shippers" are actually brokers. When you deal with a broker, there is typically no way of knowing who is actually going to transport your car. I learned the hard way: When the driver got to the destination, he kindly wiped my car down with a dry rag (and plenty of pressure); the paint damage was irreparable.

I have used Horseless Carriage several times over the years, most recently bring a 360 from Phoenix to New Jersey. I have always been happy with their work. They operate their own fleet, no brokers.
