To those who own tuning shops, performance shops, etc
how did you get to your position? Did you go to automotive school, or major in automotive engineering, or was it all self-taught? Were Dinan and AMG, etc also just tuning brands that got big?
I'm just curious because cars has always been my main passion (along with living comfortably which I see most of you shop owners do :p )
    Thanks,
    Kurt

Living comfy, well Im not sure unless of course you mean the 16-18 hr days and all nighters trying to get a car ready for a show. Employees who seem to think that you can help them but not the other way around when something has to go now. Trying to answer the phone talk to customers order parts, materials. Make sure the customer checks are good chasing to his bank before it closes so you can pay your employee who has to leave or his wife will be upset, let alone our wives who are tapping their heels at home saying "for all the time and hrs you work why arent you a millionare" of course you cant say anything back because you know she right (shes always right). I guess we do it because we have a passion which is what you have to have to think that you might finally actually achieve stardom.
Ive been building and working on cars since I was 16 that was almost 36 years ago. Went to college for a Bus Adm BS and Im still working on cars, go figure. Have fun, but you must have a passion for whatever you do. Thanks Norm www.normsfiberglass.com

    Thanks for the response
What I actually meant by living comfortably, was being financially comfortable + more; I didn't explicitly state that correctly :x
