...OK this is a strange one....I'm lost....my 2008 SCUD cranks over but immediately shuts off (like it's some kind of an immobilzer issue) BUT if I go up a gear from neutral and then back to neutral car cranks over fine......anyone have any input on this?

My guess is that it's some type of sensor issue?

Thanks in advance for any help

based on what you wrote I suppose you have either one of these problems:
    - wrong PIS
    - bad F1 sensor (must be replaced)

In both cases your F1 system cannot start properly, in the first case because your clutch is in the wrong position (PIS) and grabs on the gearbox instead of sliding and therefore not letting your engine turn properly, in the second case the bad sensor (broken?worn out?) sends wrong information of your clutch position even if it's correct and your car is shut down to prevent gearbox damage.

As told in both cases you'll end up with your car stuck dead.

One of my friends just had this happen. They had to replace the tcu. That fixed it.
