I am currently looking for a sound system for my car.(2001 Cadillac Catera) Does anybody know a good sound system that is under $1500. I need the whole set up, box, subs, amp(s) ,and wires.

How many subs do you want? what size? how many watts for your amps? replacing speakers inside the car? it'll get costly. 1500 will get ya an ok system.

Hmmm....I'm still pretty new here, should I make a comment or wait for the regulars to read his profile and comment?

    Good call.

Hiney, put the $1,500 into your college fund and then buy a car that already has a good sound system when you get a job.

Never driven a Lexus, but Mercedes' are great to drive and have killer sound systems.

Cheapest bet is to get used stuff off one of your friends that you know works. Ends up being A LOT cheaper and you can happily blow out your ear drums.

When I was a freshman in college, I had 2 used 12in subs connected to a decent new amp. That absolutely kicked. The windshield would vibrate in and out visibly and the hairs on your face would stand on end.

After a few months I started to regret it and sold/gave my stuff to my friends. My hearing wasn't worth it.
    What he said.

Best factory speaker setup remains the higher end Logic7/HK/MarcLev systems. It is all the same company.

Toyota and Lexus are the same company too. :)
I wish Lexus still used Nakamichi.

I think the Bose sound system is great! You'd be a fool to rip it out thinking you could install something better.
