Don’t bother asking a forum. Contact a trailer manufacturer. They’ll ask you all the right questions and you’ll get exactly what you want/require. But be prepared, a good one won’t be cheap.

Yeah agree.. don't buy an Aussie one as you'll get ripped....you can buy an imported one with red wheels for half the price....:)

Not to mention the Aussie ones are of inferior spec.

I’d at least like the OP to post the results, as I’m also interested in a trailer for the 355.
As it goes up in value by 30% a year I’d prefer not to drive it across the country on boring roads to get where I want to go, but I’d like it there when I arrive.....

If you put a 1600kg car onto a (typically) 1000kg trailer, you will have exceeded the towing capacity of any car. Like me, your daily driver choice will be limited to utes or big 4x4's with a 3+ tonne tow rating.

I see many people towing cars on trailers behind cars which have a much lower legal towing capacity. It's all great until you have an accident and discover you've voided your insurance.

Many, many people tow race cars behind Commodore utes and similar, which have a circa 1900Kg rating. On a run down to Phillip Island one year, the VIC cops had set up with scales just across the border and were having a field day booking people for towing infringements.

I was thinking of going to PI next year. Mind you, my car is 650kg, and the trailer 350kg, so I could probably tow it behind the Vespa

I can remember towing a very expensive Ferrari from Melbourne to Adelaide for the GP and getting into a big tank slapper. I was driving a V12 Jaguar at the time. To say I shat myself would be an understatement, and given the above post, I now shudder to think of the possible consequences if, by complete fluke I must say, I hadn't been able to save it.

Maybe I should put a tow-bar on the 355 and tow the Golf?

I've always joked about putting a tow bar on the 308 to take the 500 places!

He sure as hell didn't tow a car! Just a tiny little trailer with luggage that didn't fit in the boot.

(cough) I think that may have been my fault.

His car had an over-restored engine bay (gloss paint, polished alloy, etc) and when I judged it one time I found some rusty fasteners which I duly pinged him for. Unfortunately, he was standing behind me when I discussed this with my co-judge (oops).

He was very proud of his car and very unhappy with me. Molly Meldrum in Canberra (where it happened) had great fun winding him up and the name stuck.

btw the car later won a concorso, minus the gloss and polishing, so he did learn from the experience :)
