Has anyone ever used Uship to ship anything?

I usually use InterCity Line or Horseless Carriage when I need to ship a car.

    Any other thoughts?

I am sending Jalpa 411 back for some fixes and 382 will be done in two weeks. Fix the exhaust shield and a tune up and done.

I've used Intercity once and Exotic Car Transport about 3 times....better prices, same service. Intercity took 2-3 weeks to get my Countach to me. Exotic has picked up the next day once and usually within 3 days. That next day one, the Jarama was in Chad's hands within 24 hours from my phone call to them....CT to NC.
Please use Uship for regular cars and heavy equipment. To save a couple of hundred is not worth it. I've been tempted but thought better of it.
The above companies are well known as well as Horseless (but they wer always much more expensive). There are a couple of others that are well know but I have no experience with them.

Uship is similar to ebay. BUYER BEWARE with due diligence. I have shipped a number of cars with small private haulers through them, so far no tragedies, just momentary anxiety. Some good deals can be had, especially if you deal direct with the owner, no broker envolved, but with a high dollar car you'd better have your high dollar insurance coverage in effect. Definitely a mixed bag on the shippers experience and competence.

One thing to consider with an enclosed trailer, if you have a less than small car, is how does the driver get in and out? In some cases it's through the window as the door can't be opened enough should it end up next to a brace or such. Things are not always what they seem, I have a wavy door to show it.

I did have a wild time helping a trucker load a non running 56 Caddy onto the top of a car hauler trailer using the winch on my trailer. Multiple pulleys, was a bit dicy!

Only you know your comfort level.

    Thanks All.

I called all of them, unfortunately Exotic does not operate out in the Denver area so they are a no go. I will make contact with a few more today or tomorow.

Be aware that with some companies you're getting a broker who will book your load with any number of independent haulers on his list...so you're never sure who you'll get.

Thomas Sunday did a great job for us last year and was reasonable. Nice equipment, professional attitude, etc.

    Peter,

I can only assume they only use their trucks, which is a good thing, and do ot get much business out this way.

Thanks again for the additional companies. I am still calling.

Here is the exact quote from their email:

    Good Morning,
I have reviewed your request for a transport quote but unfortunately we do not run that route and I am unable to provide you with a price at this time.
Thank you for thinking of us and please keep us in mind for your future transport needs.

  12. Strange. They picked up my Countach in Washington State something like 6 years ago. Intercity wouldn't do it (at the time) because of the freezing winter passes. After watching a story on Discovery channel about Donner's pass, I understand.

I've used Uship numerous times. Shipped 2 Semi tractors (although one guy showed up with a 4x4 F350 pickup pulling a dozer trailer WITH a 22,000 pound M818 semi on it), a large mower, a Mini, a couple GTO's, all with good results. Not bad for open carrier shipping. Request enclosed carriers for your bids for your Lamborghini. Make sure they are insured. Look at feedback and canceled shipments if you go this route.
