Hey, im going on a roadtrip soon and want to attach those mini video recorders on the bumpers, wheels arches, roof, rear etc etc to give an artist type ... i guess like an automotive roadtest on topgear type effect to it ... u know, seeing the view if you where at the wheels, or from the very tip of the bumper etc etc ... Where does one get them from ?? cheers for the advice .. G
www.goprocamera.com I bought one about two weeks ago. I'm amazed how steady this camera is even on rough roads. I haven't made a high speed run with it mounted on the outside yet, but for $200 it's fairly expendable. Videos to come, still figuring out iVideo editing program. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey, The GoPro seems to be either "loved or hated" depending on who you listen to..... I do know it records in a somewhat "weird" format (MJPEG) but beyond that have no experience with it. However, the real reason for posting was the following link - Lots of good comments therein (from the Tracking & DE forum) - I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a Flip Mino HD soon and have a play..... http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=246920 Somewhere in that thread I also posted a link to the Trackvision site [If you have a datalogger, their S/W will overlay that data onto your video] - They have a "video cameras & recorders" forum that will tell you more than you ever wanted to know - Including votes for and against the GoPro. Trouble with many of these little guys is the audio more than the video. Full disclosure - I'm a beta tester for Trackvision, but have no other affiliation. Here's my video (with data) from the V.C. Hillclimb last year - Enjoy! http://vimeo.com/4443638 Cheers, Ian
I think I'd get (or make) a little "tether" for it - Something as simple as a piece of string or webbing that's tied around it and trapped in the door or similar. If the suction mount fails it won't go hurtling into the car behind you (Think poor Felipe and the spring.....) Cheers, Ian
I haven't pulled the trigger on one, but this one looks very interesting. Inexpensive and HIGH DEF!!!! http://vholdr.com/
Yep, the video got pretty good reviews on the Trackvision site - BUT, it apparently *really* needs an external microphone for in car use - See: http://trackvision.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=811 Cheers, Ian
I found these guys - look really good, a few of my gumball friends used them ... very sharp, very good HD quality. Going toorder a dual set up and see what comes out of it! www.fastfilms.co.uk
Be careful about "HD" - A quick look on their site only showed the Contour HD camera was "HD", all the other stuff is "DVD quality" as far as I can see. I may have missed it, but none of their bulletcams are close to HD quality.... The following was copied from a post by "corsa 308" in the thread I mentioned above: HTH, cheers, Ian
BTW, The following was shot by someone here who was "playing" with the Flip Mino HD (720p) mounted in the bumper - Set it "HD" viewing in Youtube and see what you reckon..... It struggles a little in changing light, but for about $200 I was impressed..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_Ep8mPQVIY Cheers, Ian
I have been testing the evolution of the gopro camera's for almost three years. They are a good option for the money. Very versatile and a great design, but the camera itself is the major weak point of the system. Here are some video's of some regular and wide angle ones in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGagD3wpxdE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMIi7sJo3B8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy_xla-f75E
