Accidentally tried to start the car while the battery tender was plugged in and got a red battery warning light on the left screen with a symbol of a plug. Disconnected The tender, then tried to start the car again but it won’t crank and keeps giving me the warning light. Tried removing the key, getting out, and locking the car, then get back in but it still won’t turn over. Anybody know what to do?

    Cheers

Is this the original battery? Using factory tender? What year is the car? Try leaving it locked for at least 15 minutes- you could try overnight.

Car is 2013, tender is OEM. I don’t think battery is original but it is in good condition and has plenty of juice. That’s what I figured, turned off and locked and going to try again tomorrow morning unless somebody recommends something else in the meantime

If you try to start the car with tender still attached= Car will not start and dash tells you that the tender is still attached.

Plug in the tender and see what the tender says about your battery charge status. You should see a green status light for the battery meaning that your battery is fully charged and holding a charge, The other light on the tender should also be green indicating that there is power from the wall socket to the tender.

I know, that’s what I said. I forgot the tender was connected and attempted to start then got the warning. Once I realized it, I unplugged the tender but it still won’t start and still gives the warning. The battery is in good condition

OK, in my defense, it was late, dark, and I was tired. So I mistakenly unplugged the tender but left the “tail“ still plugged into the car and hadn’t noticed. Pulled it out, everything is good now. Now to remove the egg from my face

It’s acutually a nice safety feature that prevents one from starting the car and driving away with the tender still attached.

I think we've all done something like this, glad it all worked out.

My 2 cents: if its on the OEM battery, it could be 6+ years old now, you should replace it before it gives you trouble. And the included tender is OK but its not great. I would look into replacing it with a better CTek model like the 7002.
