    Hello, new to Maserati, my first and need info on rebuilding the carbs. The car has not been driven for almost 2 years due to an illness. I bought the Q3 because of course it's a beautiful, and I know the last 2 owners, mature, one being a doctor and did all maintenance where he bought the car new in 1982, it's been garaged most of it's life.
    Turns over, however, will not start.

    Hi Use the QP III catch all thread and you get the experts. You are lucky in Wa as MIE is there. Get the carb kits from them and have them done. If you search there are some rebuilders recommended on various threads here too.

    I just got mine done here in the UK but had the kits sent from MIE.

    PS They will probably also know who would be good in your area if you need a rebuilder.

    Welcome to the forum. Before rebuilding the carbs you should check the basics:

    - are you getting a spark? If not, it is time to look at the ignition system

    - is fuel reaching the carbs? If not, it could be the fuel pump, fuel pump relay or a faulty fuel pressure regulator.

    Sorting out a car takes a little patience but is very rewarding when you finally figure out what was wrong.

    Thank you all, Just received my service manual, trying to memorize carbs parts, whew, and watching some rebuild videos on you tube.
    I'll be working on the car Sunday, starting with the spark, ignition and the such as William is suggesting, thanks again, will keep you all informed.

    The really good stuff is NLA. I got a 5 gallon pail of the "sort of good" stuff about 5 or 6 years ago but it was just so so. Still better than the type of Gunk you see in the 1 gallon pails in the auto stores.

    I'm not sure you can even still get what I bought then and it wasn't all that great.
    Not like the good old days when it ate your skin! LOL :D

    How bad are your carbs?

    The completely by the book way is to remove all the lead plugs first. I did not and the carbs still turned out great. I had a lot of external corrosion so I had to glass bead blast them with the carbs completely assembled and all openings taped off with duct tape. Then the carb bodies need to be treated to prevent oxidation and corrosion.

    But you may not have to go that far.

    Get yourself an ultrasonic cleaner big enough to hold the carbs. There are environmentally friendly solvents you can use. This how Pierce Manifolds does their work. You could try and ask them which cleaner they use.
