i can't begin to imagine it's worth the price of admission today, but i have to say that never having to scrub brake dust off my wheels is surely worth something!

it was one thing on the 550 with those simple smooth five-spokes, but i remember the mess of my M5 wheels and the S55 wheels weren't a whole lot easier either (and don't get me started on the jeep wheels i just replaced!).

the CS wheels would be a real annoyance to scrape brake dust from every week.

it's only a matter of time until they can figure out how to get the costs down. once the cost is down to 2X stock (and it'll happen eventually), all the high-end cars will "just do it" and the poor brake-dust-remover folks will be lookin' for a new market. i don't like to wish ill on anybody's business, but that'll be a fun day!

    doody.

I use carbotech pads and still get dust. I just use the kleenwheels inserts to keep things pretty. They are fine driving around town (heat) but off they come for a big weekend drive with other Ferraris and obviously NEVER on the track.

I suspect the CCbrakes will bring dust as well, since the dust is just the "wear" on the pads and rotors.

Can't tell you yet on the F430, since mine is so dirty that I can't see if it's dust or general dirt... :)

i've put over 5000 miles on my stradale and the brake dust is very, very minimal. but i still wipe clean my wheels 1 or 2 times a week with a paper towel (yeah, i'm one of those guys). i would imagine that if you never clean your wheels that even with CCM brakes you will eventually get some brake dust build up. but nothing like steel brakes!

A real dust buildup is unbelievable. I bought a parts car once and the previous owner had some kind of high performance pads. He never washed the car and the build-up was as hard as a rock! It was reddish in color and THICK. I couldn't get it off with a screwdriver and a hammer. It was horrible. I still have the wheels in my basement somewhere and the stuff is still there. I'll post a picture if I come across one this weekend.

    KEEP YOUR WHEELS CLEAN!!!

The R4S carbon-kevlar brakes from Porterfield have little dust, and the dust is a gray color so it blends in with the wheels better until you have a chance to clean it off. I've been using them vor several years, though I just changed to a Brembo setup in the front.

    A) The "brake dust" comes from the pads, not the rotors.

    B) Pure carbon fiber rotors tend to be ineffective at low temperatures -- fine for racing cars, but a disaster on street machines. The Enzo uses a carbon-ceramic composite ... and it still only comes into its own above 80 MPH. The 360 matches it from 60, and both the STi and EVO beat it at low speed braking. Carbon fiber really is only good for avoiding fade with heavy (glow in the dark) use.

Carbon fiber brakes aren't really the solution to brake dust.

Now an electromagnetic braking system ...
... would erase all your cassette tapes. ;)
