Anyone know how hard/easy it is to replace the dash pieces around the VDA control, under the center vents, and the passenger side end piece? tia, Jim
you probably need to specify for which car... But I believe that for all models, these parts are more or less straight forward and can be popped out with a plastic pry tool without having to remove the dash.
Not in the Lusso they can't. the whole dash board has to come out as they are bolted to the dash sub frame.
This may help Jim. I'll look at my workbook to see if I can find something. https://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/ferrari/f12-berlinetta-usa/all-pages/dashboard-77139
Thank you for that. I have a digital copy of the workshop manual and it looks pretty involved. I can do the carbon cup holder and the duct bridge but I’m leaving the dash pieces to the dealership. I’ll have them do it when they perform the annual service and renew the new power warranty.
^ To me it does. Just remove the center console (12 screws) and it’s held onto the center console with 4 screws. Car is going in to get wrapped on Monday so when it comes back, I’ll try the swap and report back.
vegascs, i see the e.4.03 as center console trim removal. which one is the removal of the plastic piece surrounding the 3 buttons? do you also happen to have maintenance schedule for routine maintenance items for f12? like for fluids, plugs, belts, filter, pump, coolant, etc.
I'll remove the center console using that section and I will figure out the dct bridge and cupholder from there. Shouldn't be too complicated and if it is, I'll just put it back together and let the dealership sort it. When I get the parts (they just cleared customs) and the car, I'll delve into it and let you know. The maintenance schedule page has hyperlinks to what is required for the services, but they don't open anything unfortunately. I have the same page as what posted in this thread by another member who did not receive any replies. F12 Maintenance schedule | FerrariChat
sounds great! yea I got the same page with nonfunctional links. https://ddeautomotive.com/2020/11/17/dde-garage-ferrari-f12-service-maintenance-guide/ is the only link I found for f12 maintenance. DDE as you may know are the professional youtubers, so I am not sure how accurate the information is. one thing that caught my eye was switching out water pump every 6yrs. https://www.ebay.com/itm/401688482417?hash=item5d867fd271:gk4AAOSwoVNaCcXu this is the water pump for f12. I can't imagine that little thing cooling the entire engine, but from what I see on factory diagram, I can't see additional mechanical pump. If that's our only means of engine cooling, I definitely would switch it out to a new one, probably a bigger one since electrical water pumps got way better since 2013.
That’s definitely not the engine water pump (could it be for the windshield and headlamp washers?) And I don’t know why DDE would recommend changing it every 6 years as it’s an expensive job. I think that this should be similar to the F12 water pump (photo shows the one from the FF - I can’t find a stock pic of the F12 one). It’s a combined oil and water pump. Image Unavailable, Please Login It’s a $2,600 part from Scuderia and by the time you’ve swapped one out, you’re staring at a bill for $5k (ask me how I know…).
Actually, scratch the above. The F12 uses a different water pump arrangement than the 599 and the FF despite having pretty much the same engine block. The F12’s water pump is built in to the front of the crank case. Part 77 (bottom left of the diagram) is the pump impeller. The second diagram (which I can’t delete) shows the standalone oil pump. Given that the F12’s water pump parts run to about $5-600 depending on how much you replace, I can understand now why DDE might suggest replacing the parts every 6 years. good find. that must be the water pump impeller. I've been on this chasing mode for a weird faint rpm dependent whinny noise coming from that side of the engine. I got new alternator/pulleys/tensioners ready to install, but maybe it's just the water pump impeller assembly. will have to check it out. thank you,
I currently have the stock one (4rib) but I bought the updated 6rib setup with pulley/crank. been dragging on installing it b/c I don't have the means to torque that crank main bolt to 350ftlb or whatever the spec was
if 3k is everything including installation, i think it may be fair. I would try to get it down to 2k. the power steering pump needs to be moved slightly forward to take the alternator out per the manual, so it isn't just a few bolts & one connector to change out the alternator. but shouldn't be too hard. it's probably 2-3hr job.
The dealership service dept is very fair and they always take good care of me so that figure may be all in and a ballpark.
