We just finished up a cool carbon steering wheel for the F50. Its now here in the Sates and ready to go out. As can be seen in the photos, it has a carbon top and bottom with red stitching and the top center stripe in red. I guess we know what color customer car is needed!

This is the second F50 wheel we've done. The first was one in yellow for an Italian customer. We liked the yellow one so much we went ahead and did this one for inventory.

Installation takes about a half hour since its 'just' a regular Momo. It will fit any Momo equiped, non-airbag, car like the TR, 348, and F40. There is no core exchange with this wheel so you keep your original one.

Pricing can be found on the MAcarbon website www.macarbon.com->Ferrari Carbon->F40/F50.

If this one is not quite to your liking, we have one more F50 wheel in house that can be customized to your specs.

Is the structure of the wheel CF, or is it a CF overlay? PM me the price - it looks great.

That's true that it is a small market but.... there are only 99 1999 Diablos and we'vd done ten of them. But the market is the size of the head of a pin. And it does fit other cars!

It is a CF overlay on the original Ferrari/Momo wheel. With wheels, we do not change the structure of the wheel at all. We do not want to affect crash safety or any other aspect of its structural makeup.

You did 10% of the 1999 Diablo market That is nuts. What does this steering wheel cost if you do not mind me asking.

Yeah... 10 center console and dash panels for the one year '99. We did the first one thinking it would be a one-off considering the market size. But it has continued to sell. Although the F50 market is a bit different than the Diablo market!

I usually prefer not to put prices in a post since someone will later (usually a year or two) ask for that same price. But at this time, March 5, 2008, the wheel is $3,600. That includes an original F50 wheel as well as all the carbon and leather work. All of the leather is new. The original wheel has glued on leather that is not super high quality so we replace it. All-in-all, a fun little weekend project for the do-it-yourself F50 owner. :)

A very nice looking wheel, unfortunately, I'm not in the market to even consider it as an option.

So, in theory, I could buy a momo wheel for my 200SX, trash the wheel, keep the hub, and then buy yours?? Is that what you're saying??

***...scratches chin......contemplates how horrible it would make the rest of the car look...***

I guess, like what was said earlier, I just need an F50. Damn.

    Great looking wheel.

Too bad the wheel costs as much as the average 200sx!

Don't we all need a F50! I can safely say this was not tested on my personal F50.

Could similar treatments be done for 360 CS wheels?

Yes! These is a post in the 360 section from a week or so ago where we got two 360CS wheels in. You can also see a list of CS wheels we've done on our website. We have two CS wheels in stock ready to be customized to your specification. We've done a few more CS wheels than F50 wheels!

Could you make a 360 CS wheel detachable? Better question, could you build a 430 Scuderia wheel to detach?

Oh... you want a detachable wheel? Sorry. We don't mess with airbags. All of our wheels use the original airbag unmodifed.

As for the Diablos, I had always heard the 99 number. No one had ever corrected us either. Darn, our number doesn't sound quite as impressive anymore! Thanks for correcting me.

The second F50 wheel went onto a local Bay Area F50 today. The main comment was 'that's what the factory should have done!'. It really looked good installed in the car. The mechanic had it on in 10 minutes as we examined a few of the owners other cars. Sorry for the poor photo; its hard to photograph carbon indoors.

    2 down. Only 347 F50s to go!

We're working on a set of vents and should have those ready in a few weeks.

For all of the F50 owners lurking here..... we have one more wheel in house that can be done to your specifications! :)

Would it be possible for you to make a detachable wheel with all the airbag fittings just like you do now and the customer could use it, the only modifications to the airbag would be a quick disconnect on the airbag wiring?

We don't do anything that materially effects the structure, wiring, or anything else with the function of the wheel or airbag. Sorry, a detachable airbag would need to be something you do on your own. In effect, we offer a carbon and leather service for steering wheels. Nothing more, nothing less. Read into that what you may!
