Has anyone done the Tubi CF intake covers and tubi High flow filters. I am thinking of doing them, it seems like a simple mod that I don't hear much about. Please post your opinions even if you have not.

I have the Tubi covers with K&N filters. They look good, But I doubt there is any performance gain.

Fabspeed claims 20 HP on theres due to the increase in airflow. does that sound like BS?

    Very doubtful.

I have Tubi CF air box covers on my 360, along with K&N filters. Also had K&N filters on my 355. They are much more free flowing than the stock paper type, but I doubt they add much more than 1 or 2 more HP, even on a good day.

They are nice because they do allow you to hear more of the engine intake noise, which is fun.

Here are a couple of shots of the air box covers on my 360.

Wow ! they do look great, but are you guys saying it is mere cosmetics, and would I be just as good performance wise just changing the filters?

TOTAL! And because of their ridiculous, unsupported claims I would never purchase or recommend them for anything.

I would think the only way to get any noticeable gain would be filters, pipes and a exhaust. Even then I doubt that would be 20 hp probably more like 6-8 hp.
No I don't have any dyno numbers to back this up I'm just basing this on allot of years building and modifying cars.

I agree that a seller should always back up their bhp number claims with hard dyno proof. In this case I really dont think their claims are ridiculous but probably a little exagerrated. Ferrari did quite a lot more to get their power gains they got on the 360CS.

Airflow optimization accounted for approximately a 2% power gain on the CS so there is power to be gained from looking at this area under a microscope. The original airbox design was pretty good for air throughput but it had an air velocity stall inside the top cover, basically the air coming from the air resonator box hit the metal intake piping inside the air filter cover and caused turbulence. This happens because it wasn't funnelled (due to complications in fabricating aluminium) like on the carbon cover designs, this was slowing down airflow a little, ironically it would have been better to make these covers out of plastic! (or ofcourse CF which looks much cooler!).

Even when using completely stock filters (as is the case on the CS) but using improved airflow covers you'll gain some power (but hardly all that noticeable, a few bhp is nothing you'll feel on a 360). The stock filters are large enough in size as not to be the restriction to power so replacing them doesnt really do all that much to power apart from making cool induction noises.

The big difference Ferrari did with the CS was to optimize and enlarged the air resonator box (as fitted to the side air intake section of the car), fit larger diameter air flow meters (so as not to phyiscally restrict airflow at very high air intake speeds) and improved the air box design to 'funnel' or channel the air into the air intake pipes.

I liked the fact these guys looked at the correguated plastic section, I'm sure they are onto something here, this really could 'slow down' the airflow so thats one area I think they did right.

I put them on my 360 Spider because I liked the way they look. It is not important to me whether they somehow provide more HP.

Stating a 20 hp increase by simply replacing the stock intakes/air box covers with their CF intakes...a little exaggerated?! Your kidding right??

Great information, 360trev! It's information like this that really adds value to Fchat. By the way, could you – or anyone else – comment on the aluminum airbox and filters on the F430? To what degree are there issues similar to the 360?

Great info !! I doubt there are many aftermarket mods, aside from a turbo or supercharger that can expand on an already perfect design. But after haveing this conversation at IFS, it is all about percentages although they may be minor. In all vehicles Ferrari or otherwise the combination of better flow in (intakes, filters) and better flow out (exhaust, headers, cats) although maybe not a huge differance and maybe not even noticeable, it is still gonna give some type of performance increase.
